🏈 Tony Franklin threads (merged)

Does not necessarily mean they have abandoned the Spread offense - although I think it probably has. Just that they have abandoned this particular guru.

If they stay with the system, would not be surprised to hear that the old coach from Hoover HS is brought in to run the system.

Please, please let it be so.

Wow, I just got a call from my mother-in-law in Auburn. She said the players will be meeting in 15 mins.

How do you hire a guy in December and fire him mid-season of his 1st season????? And what about all that hullabuloo about not yet having the players to run your system?

Wow, I'm shocked and a little disappointed.
I don't want to hear any AU fans giving us hell about not giving our coaches a chance! He didn't even last ONE year.

"We're going to run it, we're going to keep running it and we're going to get better at it," Tuberville said. "Sometimes people will say, ×hy don't you go back to doing what you did?' Well, if you do that, then you are asking for major disaster."

Just a day ago.

I am getting text messages already from all my Auburn friends, " Watch out Bama!"

$1000.00 says you got the exact same text messages the day Franklin was hired, then again the night of the Peach Bowl, then again when he orchestrated purposely inflated offensive/passing stats during auburn's pre-season scrimmages...

A leopard does not change his spots:

Yesterday = "Tony Franklin is our offensive coordinator and we are dedicated to the spread"

Today = "Franklin fired."

How long ago was it...

Yesterday = "I will leave Oxford Mississippi when they carry me out in a pine box!"

Today = "War Eagle...I need tweezers to remove these pine splinters."

Yet we are the ones with the scoundrel coach. This makes me laugh. Watch Tubby split for Clemson after this year. If they will have him.

Watch out for what? They still don't have a QB. Who's going to call their plays??? They are going to have a real crappy recruiting season.

That is what I was thinking. They are already talking junk, and getting on my nerves.

I am not worried about our team or our staff.

This can only get better for Auburn. They were crappy, anything else has to work better. They will or should go to old Auburn smash mouth football and that will keep thme in games, or even win ones they wouldn't have with the spread. Their team is better build for power football.

After Tubby's "WE LOVE TONY FRANKLIN AND THE SPREAD" Speech yesterday, no AU fan can bag on Saban for saying he wouldnt leave Miami for Bama..

I wonder what they do now.. Ditch the spread like he said yesterday they weren't going to do...

I agree that they are better built for power football, but mid-season is rarely the time to scrap what you were doing in favor of something completely different.

I'd expect some variation of power football with some aspects of what they've been doing. Chris Todd just lost his scholly, I'd suppose!! It'll be some hybrid-option, run type of offense. Talk about freak-shows. Man, they are gonna have a "franken-offense".

Understandably so. But they are limited on plays outside of the spread ATM. Look at the Vandy game and early on when they weren't running the spread. They were limited on plays and Vandy caught on early, thus the reason why I think they had to resort back to the spread during the remainder of the game.

I just can't think of this as a logical move mid-season to completely revamp your offense but that's Auburn for ya.

I just hope this is enough to push them over the edge and fall completely off the radar

You know what folks?

I'm actually disappointed. I wanted Auburn to be at a high point with its program when Bama administers a whupping on the PLAINsmen.

Now they'll have an excuse when Alabama puts a hurtin' on 'em. :(

And trust me, it will occur.

RTR!

With Franklin's mid week departure this puts even the Arkansas game in doubt. Its too late to really change the game plan at this point, and not enough time to put in much more power stuff. I would say that their play calling could suffer, but it could not get much worse than it has been.
