🏈 Time to look back on predictions for 2015

The OSU preseason pick/result reminds me of UA 2010.

Both were loaded NC caliber teams that didn't live up to expectations.

Similar themes (some rumored): huge preseason favorite, complacency, entitlement, lack of leadership, talented players looking toward draft, lost heartbreakers to rival, and more.

Looking at the two just shows how hard it is to "predict" CFB. Team chemistry, coaching, personnel and ind player decisions/indecisions on and off field, and other intangibles play such a huge role.

Both of those teams may have easily been one of the best two at the end of the season, but small things have cumulative effects and both found themselves out of contention to even compete for a NC, even in an expanded format, when it was all said and done.

There is one huge difference between UA in 2010 and OSU in 2015; injuries.

I ran through the numbers in 2011 and as I recall the sum was around 30+ games starters missed in that 2010 season.

It's a fair point, and most of those injuries as I recall were nagging ones of the knee/ankle variety that persisted all season. Seemed like, aside from HTWMI and Former MFBATR'S lower body ailments, most of the front 7 had some lingering issue or another all season, including Hightower who wasn't playing at 100 percent on his knee after surgery. The front 7 issues placed more pressure on an already young secondary, which was the Achilles heel most of the yr if you look past inconsistent OL play.

That said, those lingering injuries of key draft eligible players likely had a bigger effect on their psyche when it came to gametime. If you don't play fast, your likely to get injured or re-injured. If your concerned about getting injured due to draft stock, you don't play fast. IMO, it was a dichotomy that caused those studs looking forward to April to be less effective through the season as a whole and caused ankle/knee sprains to persist or re-occur not through outright malingering but through counterintuitive actions over self-concern for the draft.

In most situations I'd agree with that assessment. It's something seen in the regular season at times, but more often than that seen when it comes to bowl games which mean little, if nothing, to a team/player.

Which brings up the game against Michigan State to conclude that season ... we didn't see people playing tentatively in that game. W e did see a healthy team; one that mirrored expectations in the preseason of that year.

Also one playing for pride after a horrible IB collapse

Dude... why? Just why?

Assuming you are talking about TR, he brought it on himself. I love what he did for UA, but his diminished performance in the Pros was not (to public knowledge) injury related. Those efforts have contributed very negatively to a much larger audience and reflect poorly on himself, so he is either TR or FMFBATR in my opinion.

I wasnt talking about the content of your post other than you constantly writing names as "HTWMI" or "FMFBATR", we have no idea wtf you are talking bout man.

Got to love new technology and how its changed. Can not imagine all of us talking bama football over a cb radio. But I am glad that the quality of tv reception is not dependant on whether or not it is raining or how bad the wind is blowing; as well as trying to watch a game on a 12 inch screen

My bad. I thought both were common acronyms within the lexicon of most Bama boards. Other than the F, which is why I spelled out "former"

I've literally never seen it before you, I figured out Mark Ingram because I've seen you refer to Henry as "HTWDH" or something like that. I just dont get why just say "Ingram" or "Richardson." Seems like he'd be just as easy.
