🏈 Tim Brandeau Prediction From 2018

Do what?....
Anyway....
Pretty self explanatory on that post. You don't have to recruit in the league, you don't at UCF. You do at Nebraska and he can't.

The "coaching cupboard" was pretty bare when he was hired unless they pulled a coach from another school. They couldn't.

The fact is when these schools look to past glory to get the program back, more often than not it fails: Frost, Harbaugh, Neuheisel, Fulmer, and the list goes on.

UCF conference academic requirements are not as stringent as the SEC or ACC. And there are a BUNCH of good players in Florida that go to UCF by default due to their academics.
But you still have to recruit...FIU, FAU, South Fl....probably others...on top of fsu, fl, Miami, out of state schools...competition is aggressive....

but instate talent pool much bigger than Nebraska ...obviously...
But...still have to recruit

and thats what has been said about southern schools...academics...

The academics play a part in every conference but the academic requirements for Nebraska in the Big 10 is much more difficult than USF. I really don't think "don't have to recruit" means literally nothing at all. But UCF compared to Nebraska (especially out of its heayday) takes a lot less effort.

And I think Frost is in love with himself via Nebraska lore that he just thinks kids will want to come. Which is one of the biggest reasons to never recruit alumni as head coaches.

@50+yeartidefan ...and Frost is an affable fella. At UCF you didn't need to be a good coach because of what's mentioned: talent falling into your lap due to "overflow."

He lacks the coaching acumen (maybe admin) and can't recruit the talent.

Will buy in to " comparable " While I wouldn't bet it 100% since i don't know and don't feel like a research project.
But "comparable " seems reasonable

and while we are on it

There is Recruiting in NFL... recruiting of free agents by teams offering $$$$$
or at least it could be stretched to be called recruiting

another story there though

Yeah....it also could be having quality assistants is what propelled Frost
Better than what he has or able to get at Nebraska
Nebraska was a power. As was Tennessee
Who knows when they can regain that status. Or if

certainly recruiting at Nebraska....yicks the weather!!!!

From the look of it. No disagreement there on Frost and his ability to put together the means necessary to be successful

but...... if you didnt have to be a good HC to be successful..... whats to make of unsuccessful seasons

you still have to be good. Have good assistants. Get good players.

And Gus is going to be a perfect fit there with his HS playbook. Most, if not all, of the kids he will get couldn't comprehend a college playbook, but have just as much, if not more, athletic ability as the ones who can comprehend one.
