🏈 Tim Brandeau Prediction From 2018

Brando has allowed his Cajun fandam and bama hate to cloud his judgment and cause him to make stupid predictions. Can't recall a time when he was not like this. Pretty much viewed as a 2nd tier or lower guy in his industry at least by me.

Pretty self explanatory on that post. You don't have to recruit in the league, you don't at UCF. You do at Nebraska and he can't.

The "coaching cupboard" was pretty bare when he was hired unless they pulled a coach from another school. They couldn't.

The fact is when these schools look to past glory to get the program back, more often than not it fails: Frost, Harbaugh, Neuheisel, Fulmer, and the list goes on.

I disagree with this. In the Big 10 you don't need to be a superstar recruiter to be successful. Wisconsin competes in that conference on a fairly consistent basis and does so with average recruiting. Dantonio at Michigan State was an average recruiter as is Kirk Ferentz at Iowa. Now don't get me wrong, I don't think you'll be a consistently elite team, but I think its pretty evident that especially in the Big 10 all you need to be is average. Will you struggle against Ohio State and Penn State? Yes. Are you destined to be a shit team because you can't recruit in the top 15 consistently? No.

Frost pulled in average to slightly above average recruiting classes at Nebraska. His problem I think is that he is in over his head.

Frost is going to look even worse after UTSA beats Illinois this week.

(!)[QB] 08/30/2021 - Brandon Peters is downgraded to doubtful Saturday vs Tex San Antonio ( Shoulder )

That is laughable at best. Frost was a flash in the pan at UCF. Nebraska would have been FAR better off if they'd have just kept Bo Pelini.

Maybe.

Bo Pelini did prove how great he was as a coach after Nebraska by going (checks notes) 18-22 in the FCS Mo Valley Conference at Youngstown St. Then went to LSU and (checks notes) got fired after one disastrous season where he took elite talent and produced one of the worst defenses in all of college football.
