🏈 Tide's push for Rashaan Evans 'has made it a little bit more difficult than he expected,' says Kipp

"Rashaan Evans is that make-or-break guy really for both classes. If (Nick) Saban is able to take that guy, he's basically telling (Auburn coach) Gus (Malzahn), 'This is still my state and I get the guys I want.'"
Auburn High School star Rashaan Evans, the nation's best outside linebacker prospect, will announce his decision between three finalists today at 10 a.m.

Kipp Adams, a national recruiting insider for 247 Sports, said Evans would be "that make or break guy" for both Auburn and Alabama.

He admitted, however, Alabama would make a huge statement by landing the 6-foot-3, 220-pound five-star prospect from Auburn High.

"You have to make a statement as far as Alabama recruiting," Adams told The Afternoon Sports Drive on WNSP-FM 105.5 in Mobile on Tuesday. "If they're able to go in and get a guy out of Auburn High School that has an Auburn offer, that is an Auburn legacy, that never happens. ...

"Rashaan Evans is that make-or-break guy really for both classes. If (Nick) Saban is able to take that guy, he's basically telling (Auburn coach) Gus (Malzahn), 'This is still my state and I get the guys I want.'

"As far as Gus, it puts an exclamation point on a top-5 class and brings a guy that Nick Saban wanted. You are able to tell that fan base we got somebody that the Alabama Crimson Tide could not get out of their own state."

So where does Adams think Evans signs today?

"Auburn is tough to beat, but Alabama's made it real interesting. They're incredible recruiters. The staff has really made a big push for him. I think they have actually recruited him better when it comes to telling him how they are going to develop him at the next level as far as position, as far as fitting in as a pass rusher.

"I think it has made it a little bit more difficult than he expected. That being said, I'd be slightly surprised if he didn't select Auburn."

Adams is not alone. Check out AL.com's poll, which asks readers where they think Evans will sign.

Make a strong statement? Yes, no doubt.

Make or break the Alabama recruiting class?!? OH MY GAWD!

That statement is defined by one introduction: dumb, meet ass.

Terrible wording, was much more of a make or break situation for Auburn. It ended up being a huge addition and steal for Bama, but it wouldn't have had any effect on this already amazing class.

For a defense that was "going to build around" this one player, it's obvious where that statement fell and ended. You also have to think that the pressure of competition didn't look as bad compare to being "that guy".
