🏈 Tide's Kirby Smart: 'At the end of the day, I just feel like this is where I am supposed to be.'

For once I actually had a good feeling about this whole deal. The Dawgs had him all but moved in over here. So funny to now hear them eat their words and spew out with anger over Smart's decision.

well, certainly doesn't help when someone like David Pollack is tweeting Smart to UGA, considering his ties to UGA and what he does for a living. Just goes to show you that insider knowledge isn't always insider knowledge.

I'm wondering what UA said to make him stay or even what we gave up to keep him quite frankly.

Well, I doubt he was named "coach in waiting". That's about the hokiest thing I've ever heard of anyway. I'm sure the pay raise was nice, and more input into recruiting very possibly. I'd like to think he had a lot to do with it anyway.

Yes sir, glad to keep him.

I read an article this week talking about the Muschamp verses Smart DC battle and all the stuff at Georgia and how having ties back there would play a part yada yada yada.

In the article the spoke about and to Ray Goff about the situation. He said the best advice he would give either one of them is to stay put. He said that when you come to your alma mater and screw it up, you have no place to go (to call home). Look at Dubose.

He said this way if they go off somewhere and do well then you can try and pull them later on. I see Dabo in the type of situation where he could land the job at UA one day. If he does well over the next 4-5 years and Saban decides to pack it in, then you could go and grab him and say that Mama called. Same can be said for Kirby. Say Mullen does a good job next year and Les Miles keeps doing exactly what Les Miles does. Mullen could take off for greener pasture. Kirby could follow suit. Go and build on what Mullen did and then follow Richt at UGA if he continues to do less with more.

All hypothetical, but you see where I'm going.

**Glad we get to keep Smart.... but if hadn't, it wouldn't be the end of the road. I think he will get the Georgia HC job outright in a few years if he waits till Richt leaves. I wouldn't want to be associated with Richt in any way. I also thought Smart might get the "unspoken" title of coach-in-waiting and I would stay away from that. That title has not went very well so far.........Hopefully Georgia won't feel rejected by Smart and will remember him down the road for the HC job.

**Saban "seemed" not considering promoting Sal sends a message. This leads me to believe since Sal can't move up. Sal will probably leave in time anyway. Travis Jones looks like he would be a good hire to replace Sal if he leaves....(Saban Really likes coaching with people he has worked with before)
**Saban must think a LOT of Todd Grantham. Surprised he doesn't consider anyone on his current defensive staff is ready to move up and take the job. To come in straight away and get the DC job is big!**Heard we might have truned Blake Sims back to us. Sounds like some coaches got in his head.....I could take him or leave him, depending on who we get to replace him.

**Not surpised by Rolo decison...good luck
**This like three big job hires we have beat Georgia out of: Smart, Grant, and someone I can't think of right now
**Wonder why teams are not battling over McElwain?
