• The two in-state foes last met on March 11, 2008, in Florence, with Alabama securing a 17-2 win on the road. Prior to the two midweek matchups on deck, the Crimson Tide and Lions have not met for consecutive games since a doubleheader on March 21, 1979, in Tuscaloosa.
• North Alabama came away victorious, 10-3, in the initial matchup between the two schools on April 1, 1967 in Florence, before the Tide rallied off 14 consecutive wins. UNA then defeated Alabama, 4-3, on Feb. 28, 1985 to break the streak. Following that loss, UA has won each of the last five meetings, outscoring the Lions by a 48-13 margin across that time.
• Alabama will start the two-game stretch with junior Wil Freeman on Tuesday, a right-hander. Wednesday's pitcher is still to be announced for the Crimson Tide.

ABOUT ALABAMA
• Alabama wrapped up the week at 3-1, first taking down Jacksonville State on Monday and then defeating Ball State in two of three games on the weekend.
• It was a huge week for Keith Holcombe. The senior batted at a .538 (7-13) clip with a team-high three doubles, 12 RBI and two stolen bases in as many attempts. Holcombe added a home run, four runs scored and two walks across the four games while slugging a team-high 1.000 and sporting a team-best .563 on-base percentage. He contributed at least one RBI across all four games and reached base safely in each contest to extend his streak to 21 consecutive games in which he has reached.
• A seven-run second inning highlighted Alabama's big offensive output on Monday evening, finishing in a 13-2 win over Jacksonville State. The Crimson Tide hitters tallied 13 runs on 10 hits, including a seven-run second that put the game out of reach for JSU early.
• Holcombe and sophomore Tyler Gentry each finished the day 2-for-3 with three RBI. Both of Holcombe's hits were doubles, with the senior also contributing a team-high tying two runs. Also notching a multi-hit effort was Morgan McCullough, as the junior wrapped up his day 2-for-3 with two RBI and a pair of runs scored.
• On the hill, the Tide saw six pitchers take the mound with redshirt junior Kyle Cameron earning the win. The right-hander filled up the zone with 20 strikes on his 25 pitches across 2.0 shutout frames that included three strikeouts.
• Senior starter Sam Finnerty's strong effort on the mound helped UA claim a 7-1 win over Ball State in Friday's series opener at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. Finnerty was dominant, using just 68 pitches to cruise through 7.0 shutout innings for the win. The righty did not issue a walk and allowed just three singles, retiring 10 straight at one point. He added six strikeouts to his line for a new career-high mark as a starter. A rain delay ended Finnerty's night early.
• The Crimson Tide offensive output was headed by Holcombe once again. The senior finished 2-for-4 with a home run, a pair of runs scored and a career-high tying four RBI. Also contributing a multi-hit effort was Kolby Robinson, with the junior going 2-for-3 with a double and adding a walk and a run.
• Alabama rallied late but was unable to complete the comeback in an 8-5 loss to Ball State that started on Saturday and was completed on Sunday. The Tide entered the ninth down four and rallied for a run but could not complete the comeback.
• UA used three arms to one-hit Ball State in the Crimson Tide's 6-0, shutout win over the Cardinals, earning the Sunday victory while also claiming the series. Connor Shamblin earned his second win as many starts with 5.0 no-hit innings. The freshman starter added five strikeouts with just one walk before handing it over to the bullpen.
• Junior Casey Cobb followed with 3.0 frames that included one strikeout, and graduate transfer Jeremy Randolphclosed things out with a 1-2-3 ninth, all by way of the strikeout.
• Alabama's offense matched the effort on the mound with 11 hits, including a season-high four doubles, on the way to six runs. The Tide's 1-through-4 hitters combined to go 9-for-17 with all four of the two baggers and added six RBI along with four runs scored.
• Holcombe wrapped up his day a perfect 3-for-3 with a double, a stolen base and a career-high tying four RBI. Matching Holcombe in the hit column Brett Auerbach, with the junior finishing 3-for-5 with a double, an RBI and a team-high two runs.

The Crimson Tide’s six-run third put the game out of reach early with the UA arms ensuring the victory

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – A six-run third by the offense, combined with a solid effort on the mound from five pitchers helped Alabama baseball come away with an 8-0 shutout win on Tuesday at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. With the victory, the Crimson Tide improves to 6-2 overall.

"It was a good win for us," said Alabama head coach Brad Bohannon. "I was glad to see us put up a big number in the third. I thought all of the guys that pitched tonight were amazing; we struck them out 15 times. We also continued to play good defense behind them, so it was a really nice night for us."

Alabama jumped out front early, putting up a six-spot in the third to put the game out of reach. The Tide added single tallies in the fifth and six to push the advantage to eight by night's end. The offense was spread across the board with eight of the nine starters tallying a hit. Redshirt junior Gene Wood highlighted the offense, finishing 2-for-3 with a team-high two runs and a pair of RBI to go with two walks.

North Alabama would never threaten the UA lead, as five Crimson Tide pitchers combined for a season-high 15 strikeouts while allowing only two hits. The effort on the mound was led by junior Wil Freeman (1-0), as the right-hander tossed 4.0 scoreless innings with four punchouts for the win. Four more UA arms worked the final 5.0 frames, allowing just one hit and striking out 11 with each pitcher recording at least two punchouts.

The Tide's huge six-run third kicked off the night's scoring. Senior Keith Holcombe began the inning with a double down the line and was brought home in the very next at-bat thanks to a two-run home run from sophomore Tyler Gentry. The Tide bats then rallied off three consecutive singles, with the third coming from Wood to bring in one more run. The five straight hits forced a UNA pitching change, still with runners on the corners and no outs.

The new UNA arm retired the first batter he faced, but a balk in the next at-bat moved one run across and a walk in that same at-bat put two on for Kolby Robinson. The junior sent a single back up the chute to score one more and move a Tide runner to third. Brett Auerbach took advantage of the man 90 feet away with the junior sending a sacrifice fly to center to score the frame's final run, setting it at 6-0 after three innings of play.

Alabama added one more in the fifth, using a bases loaded hit-by-pitch for Holcombe to cross one. The Tide put up a final tally in the next inning on an RBI-single from Wood, making it an 8-0 affair, the eventual final.

The two teams meet once again on Wednesday for a 3 p.m. CT first pitch at The Joe. Alabama's starter is still to be announced with North Alabama calling on junior right-hander Kyle Moore. Fans can catch Wednesday's matchup on SEC Network+.

I don't know how many wins this bunch will finish with, but I hope we can finish the OOC strong and then just hold our own and play pretty close to .500 ball in conference. We were given no favors in conference scheduling for a team that has struggled for the past 2 years! We miss on the cellar dwellers of the East but get everyone ranked inside the Top 15!!!

The Crimson Tide secured the series with the game-two victory

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama baseball came away with a 4-1 win over North Alabama on Wednesday afternoon at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. With the victory, the Crimson Tide claimed the series and improves to 7-2 on the season.

"I was really glad to get the win tonight," said Alabama head coach Brad Bohannon. "Certainly, we weren't as sharp as we have been at times this year. Unfortunately, it's to be expected when you have a lot of youth and inexperience. I'm certainly glad to get a win when we didn't necessarily play our best and learn a good lesson, that we have to play better if we want to have a successful weekend coming up."

Alabama scored first in the bottom of the third, but UNA matched with one run of its own in the top of the fifth to even things up. The Tide then tallied two in the fifth and added one in the seventh to come away with the Wednesday victory. Redshirt freshman Chase Lee (1-0) collected his first career win while Jacob McNairy (1) earned a save with his 2.0 scoreless innings to close things out.

The Crimson Tide struck first for a second straight day, putting one run on the board in the third. A leadoff walk from freshman Drew Williamson forced a Lion pitching change. The new arm would get two outs but also load the bases in the process for Morgan McCullough. The junior dug in and watched four pitches go by to draw the walk and cross the game's first run.

North Alabama answered with one run of its own in the top of the fifth to even the score up, but UA came right back with a two spot in the home half of the frame. Junior John Trousdale began the inning with a single and was followed by a double from senior Joe Breaux to put both runners in scoring position. Brett Auerbach then brought in the go-ahead mark, as the junior sent a sacrifice fly to deep right. McCullough followed with a single through the left side to bring in the second run and set the score at 3-1 through five.

In the seventh, another walk with the bases loaded, this one to Williamson, added one more for Alabama to move things to a three-run advantage at 4-1. McNairy entered for the eighth and ninth, allowing only one hit and striking out one Lion hitter to secure the save.

Next up for Alabama is the team's first road series of the 2019 season as the Crimson Tide heads to Mobile on Friday to take on South Alabama. The series opener at Stanky Field is set for a 6:30 p.m. CT first pitch followed by a 2 p.m. start on Saturday and a scheduled 1 p.m. opening on getaway day. All three games will air live through the Jaguars' athletics website, USAJaguars.com.
