Tide stays on top of CFP rankings TideSports.com

For the fourth week in a row, the Crimson Tide was dubbed the No. 1 team in the College Football rankings, which were released Tuesday.

Alabama defeated The Citadel last weekend 50-17 at home in Bryant-Denny Stadium. The Citadel is a Football Championship Subdivision team, but Alabama also has victories over No. 7 LSU (same as last week), No. 18 Mississippi State (up three) and No. 22 Texas A&M (wasn’t ranked) this season.

Since the system was implemented in 2014, UA has been ranked first in the CFP rankings 16 times in the 29 releases.

Clemson is second, followed by Notre Dame and Michigan in order to round out the top four. Georgia and Oklahoma are fifth and sixth, respectively.

Alabama, Clemson and Notre Dame are still undefeated. The other top teams are one-loss progams.

No. 9 UCF also hasn’t lost a game.

Say the current rankings were to remain the same for playoffs, Alabama would play Michigan in one semifinal, while Clemson and Notre Dame would face off in the other. This season’s CFP semifinals are the Cotton Bowl and Orange Bowl, both on Dec. 29. The winners will advance to the Jan. 7 championship game at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Alabama’s last regular-season game is this weekend, as it host Auburn for the in-state rivals’ annual Iron Bowl. UA has already earned a spot in the SEC Championship Game on Dec. 1 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Georgia has, too. It’ll be a rematch of last year’s national championship game.

Other ranked SEC teams were Florida at No. 11 and Kentucky at No. 15.

I saw an article this morning that suggested it was close at the top. Seemed to be more of a click-bait headline though.

All year long we've been hearing how Alabama is in a different league. I think that's somewhat shifted to "it's now Alabama and Clemson, then everyone else". Seems we're on a familiar collision course, and it should be another classic game.

I saw an article this morning that suggested it was close at the top. Seemed to be more of a click-bait headline though.

All year long we've been hearing how Alabama is in a different league. I think that's somewhat shifted to "it's now Alabama and Clemson, then everyone else". Seems we're on a familiar collision course, and it should be another classic game.

I've watched the true freshman QB a time or two, and though talented will throw it pretty much anywhere when pressure is on him. The talking heads who feel that this kid and Deshaun Watson are the equals of each other has simply run out of options for teams with a credible chance to upset the Tide.
