Per ncaa, "Awards for winning a conference or national championship in a team sport may be provided only to student-athletes who were eligible to participate in the championship event."
I take that to mean enrolled, academically eligible, and not on ncaa suspension. Injuries and internal team suspensions wouldn't count against the player in this instance. But, yes, you have to be in school.
Wish nothing but the best for this kid. You gotta have a lot of BAMA in you to agree to greyshirt when injury is not the driving factor. I'm sure Bell had multiple 2nd choices and could have already seen the field elsewhere, but he wanted to be an Alabama football player; not just a football player.
