Based on what I've seen through three series each, AJ is significantly better than Phillip today. I believe from this point we start to see back-ups more and more.

AJ just looks alot more polished, under control, and accurate. He has more tempo, too.

As an aside, Eddie has looked amazing. Don't know what's up with Trent, but he has looked a little lackluster considering the competition.

Last thing, Kent State's Roosevelt Nix on their DL is really impressive. Easy to see why he was a freshman All-America last year.

AJ has looked better. Better control, better passes. BUT, I am absolutely not impressed with the offensive line. They have been whipped all game. I fully expected Bama to heavily rely on the running attack this season, and actually believed Bama would be better because of a great running/clock control offense. I have doubts after watching this group get beat by Kent State for most of the first half.

I have to agree about th e o-line - less than impressed. Not showing much fire. The commentators mentioned that Dont'a was calling them out on the sidelines. We should be manhandling these guys.

Will always take a blowout win. Plenty of positives. Maze looked good as the go to receiver. Lacy had some nice moves and Fowler looked like a great number 3 back. But, we have a long way to go if we are going to win the SEC and have a shot at the BCS this season. Primarily on the offensive line.

Hopefully, we'll figure out the QB situation and stick with one. I'm not a fan of a 2 qb system as I think it disrupts the offensive flow. I'm hoping our O-line will respond better to having 1 qb.

I think we looked good for the first game of the year. I also think we took it a bit easy through the entire game even though it was a blowout.

AJ looked good and thought he sewed the job up, but that int might've equaled things out, but he starts next week, but I bet we see both again.

The last int hit the receiver in the hands. Hard to fault AJ on that one. We are definitely going to be ready to play next week. AJ is going to throw some picks, because he's a gunslinger. As long as we can establish the run, we won't depend on AJ so much. But if our oline continues to get pounded like they did today? It might be a long season.

Also, I didn't give credit to the defense. They played a GREAT game. I hate they couldn't pitch the shutout, because really it wasn't their fault. And I don't care who the opponent is, anytime you hold a team to 90 yards of offense, the defense had a hell of a game. Kudos to those guys.

If Penn State was today instead of Kent State......it could have been ugly. Trent just dint look good at all.....O-line played poorly.....they look more pass protection oriented than run block oriented. AJ came out and looked like a seasoned starter.....his pic over the middle was not his fault, perfect pass. Sims wasnt ready for gametime speed....SEC play will be even worse. Better get ready for next week.

Everybody in this thread so far has made some good points. AJ looked a lot better today than Sims. But, like Argo and others metioned, if the OL play doesn't improve, who the QB is won't matter much.

Our OL will be fine. They just need time to gel. When you have Barrett Jones playing 4 different positions on the line, you're gonna have a few kinks to work out but I'm sure they WILL be worked out now that they have the first game out of the way. This was a good game to find out what they need to work on. I'm not worried. The rust will be cleaned off during this week now that they know EXACTLY what needs to be worked on. It's football season. ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!!!!!!!!!

Dont see how "Trent looked unimpressive"... when you're dodging three and 4 tacklers in the backfield almost every touch... I know Coach Saban saw this is as an "audition" for the QBs but we threw the ball far too much... never really gave the O-Line a chance to settle in and lean on the D-Line in the first half... after Dont'a "called out" the O-Line it did seem like they picked it up... we just didnt get enough of a push inside with the O-Line, with as good as Cyrus looked I almost wanna say let him start on the outside and allow Barrett to go back inside and help out there. AJ is by far the most ready QB, Sims LOOKED like a Freshman today. And there is no way that last pick "evened things up", how can you say that? He hits Williams IN THE HANDS and he tips it into the Safety's hands. Definitely not AJ's fault...now the first pick was most def. AJ's fault, just a bad throw. Both of Sim's picks were bad, first one he just held the ball too long and got nailed as he let go (he held the ball too long alot) and the 2nd one he held the ball too long again and gave the corner time to break on it, bad throw.

Defense was incredibly impressive, pass rush was great today and there was nothing they can do running the ball. That QB got beat up. The only problem I had with the defense was all of the dropped picks, there was like 5 or 6 interceptions we shoulda had but dropped.

Special teams...uhhh Cade Foster remains so damn inconsistent. Mandell looked okay punting tho.
