🏈 Thoughts? CBS's Jeremy Fowler projecting Bama with an 8 win season for 2014?

He could be right but I seriously doubt it. Who are the 4 teams that beat us? I would place a large-sum bet on the fact that he is wrong.

Edit: Is he saying we lose more than 4 games if the season started today? I don't understand his 2nd tweet at all.

if we don't get the running game in top notch form, he could easily be right. we will need to lean on that this year more than we have since probably 2008.

I think with our stable of horses, that should be easy to do. The biggest question is going to be the o-line. I haven't heard much about that this off season. I'm not sure who replaces Steen and Cyrus K, but it will be key, I'm sure.

It's a question I don't see being answered until fall camp. I've got no idea how well Dom will do and I suspect it's the same thing with the staff. If my numbers are correct, we've only got 11 practicing right now (scholarshipped) and I think it's a walk-on backing up center.

Alphonse Taylor will turn out to be a good replacement for Steen. That LT fight still seems to be in the air. I've read a number of comments from people who think Cam Robinson is the replacement. Maybe in the future, but most likely not v. WVU.

I'm sure he's thinking the barn is one of those four. The field day the crowing barners are having...

Oline play will determine ALOT in how well the season goes. You would think it would hinge on the QB but I don't think it will. Good, consistent Oline play will take the pressure off of a young QB that we can bring along with the miriad of backs that we have at our disposal. I'm going to be at the clinic again this year, so I'll be paying close attention to the Oline.

That's why I added the question marks.

I'd say we could lose as many as two IF the season started today. However, the same statement could be applied to how many SEC teams?

He mentions the schedule, but you can point to just about every team on the schedule and find the same losses in personnel.

Bama would win 8 games if they returned no starters.

Phil Steele's last blog (NCAA Method of ranking toughest schedules) shows Bama would be ranked 95th by that method. Which is based on previous W-L record. Bama's 2014 opponents won 71 and lost 79 games in 2013.

This guy is definitely as dumb as he looks. I am a realist when it comes to things because I want to be informed and not a blind follower, but no way Alabama doesn't win atleast eight games right now and ten by time the season kicks off. Of course we could lose all twelve, but in all honesty, who are the four teams that are looking like they could beat us? Yes, we lost some talent, but he must be forgetting those number one recruiting classes we signed. And yes, previous top recruiting classes brought us championships, so I have no doubt our new guys can play. We filled all areas of need and are not necessarily missing talent anywhere. No whether they step up is a different question, but even with just our returning starters we win nine, and more than that when the new guys hit a routine. Our receivers, backfield, and linebackers will win us eight games alone.
