Allow me to show you a picture. I am sure most of you have seen it already but, have you stopped and really looked at it?

What does this mean? Is it about race? No. Only the ignorant whites and blacks will see it as that.

This is brotherhood, kinship, admiration, respect, honor, esteem, praise, obeisance, fealty, allegiance, and loyalty.

This is something for other teams and other coaches to fear. No one wants to see this, it is not good for others.

When men develop a bond, they are dangerous. This type of emotional display is a nightmare for every team and every coach that we face.

This tells them that the Crimson Tide is tight, unbreakable, and will fight to the last whistle. This is why 'Bama is #2 in the nation and rising. This is why every 'Bama fan in the nation has reason to be excited. This is why the team we support is going to break a lot of hearts this year and for years to come.

You can't buy this, people have to buy into it. It is a process and the process seems to be working. Just look at the photo, study it, think about it.

Then, take a look at this painting and this kinship and this bond and this brotherhood and tell me that things have not come full circle at the University of Alabama.

Altie, this is just about the best thing I can ever remember you posting.

Bravo.

I hate to take away from your post. You have a way with words. But is that Javy? and who is the coach.

Yes, NTT. That is Javier Arenas and Coach Kirby Smart.

Thanks, Big Fan. I am just trying to keep up with you and Terry and so many of the other great writers on this board.

Altie, that picture is the personification of why I am a Bama fan and why I go to school here. The brotherhood and kinship of the players and staff show a Bama we haven't seen in a long time. Like you said, that kind of bond is dangerous and brings out an unequaled emotion from the players. They will want better on every play to live up to and exceed their coaches, and their own, expectations. :D

Exactly, BamaFan19. When I first saw the photo from the Georgia game, I kind of passed over it and clicked on to the next one. Then when I was finished with the slideshow, the image of that photo kept coming back to me.

I went back to it and studied it and just thought about what makes this type of intimacy between a coach and a player possible. What it means to have that with another person, that strong type of trust and respect.

As I said, all teams and fans should be much more afraid of this than any 5 star player we may or may not get. Athletic ability is a key factor in performance, but a bond like the one we see in the picture among a team and it's coaches is what will beat them.

As you allude to, it isn't just about fear of coaches being angry with you that will make a player live up to his ability, that is a small part of it.

But, a desire to not let a coach down, to not disappoint him, should be frightening for other teams.

Thanks, elbatider. I was at the game, but with so much going on you don't see but probably a small percentage of what is happening on the sideline.

I wish I knew what circumstance led to this encounter between Arenas and Coach Smart.

Great, great post. Bravisimo.

And that's why the guys in white overcame the guys in black on Saturday night.

I couldn't have said it better, ExiledTideFan. Meanwhile, on the other sideline, you had A.J. Green slamming his helmet and having to have a fellow player try to control him.

Quite the contrast.

No clue on circumstances but I could tell from everything I read and heard out of Tuscaloosa this summer that this team was coming together. Never had a clue it would amount where we are now, but knew good things were happening. This team is speacial and I love it. Your photo and everything else shows this team is one unit, proud and strong.

It would appear that Coach Smart was congratulating his players on their effort. The photo was taken just after Javy came off the field and UA was in the Victory Formation to end the game.

1st, great post Altie. Now, to touch on the post above just a bit, I offer a quote from Brandon Deaderick following the Clemson game. This is regarding the kickoff return for a touchdown directly after halftime. "Spiller's kickoff return didn't faze us in the least. We are a closer team than last year. We trust each other."

If this trust wasn't evident after the kickoff return from Clemson, just look at what our team did after UGA scored 17 straight points last Saturday night. They went right back to business in front of the UGA crowd that was completely hyped again and broke UGA's back with a FG, and three and out, and a touchdown.

You can't ask for a better situation with team chemistry.
