🏈 This 'Bama defense is different

Folks, what I saw last night was different and felt different too. They were so MUCH faster than I've seen them...

The four man rush!!!! Not since Curry & Copeland... Should be fun

The LB's!!! Reuben Foster is now the beast that he was recruited to be. He is just a beast right now reminding me an awful lot of McClain.

The DB's!!! They were everywhere last night. Contesting Everything. Even Averett as a first year starter was still in position.

JUST speed everywhere! Maybe after playing Clemson, they were shown what they need to do to get better. All the guys getting leaner & stronger, along with all the rotations they were going through last year to stay fresh, they may be morphing into something just disgusting!!! (Insert evil laugh)

Roll Tide & I know those boys gonna be ready for Ole Miss.

Yep, less Boa Constrictor this year and a whole lot more Black Mamba. ( The world's fastest snake)

It's predicated on the d line. And we're thin. If those guys get gassed, we have to load the box and it all changes.

This is a great defense, but not unbeatable. If we get depth there, then look out.

Exactly. Looks like Dakota Ball is the 5th DL we are using... Which is kind of scary. Need either King or a freshman to step up. But Tomlinson, Payne, Allen, Hand are spectacular.

I saw Hand out there a good bit. Frazier was in the mix at times. Ball was in a fair amount - maybe he's doing some good? Anfernee Jennings played a bit. Didn't see King, and of course we need to get Raekwon Davis approved. Didn't see Christian Miller. If Ball, King, and Frazier get in the mix, with Jennings, and C Miller plays more, I think we'll have decent depth. Hopefully Terrell Hall and Jamey Mosley can help as well?

Give me a few minutes and let me find another stick for you ... been beating this horse so much over the summer I'm exhausted. But, I've got a second wind ...

Pre-game USC: Saban: We have depth issues on the defensive line.
Post-game USC: Saban: We have depth issues on the defensive line. (He was really clear here leaving no doubt it's a concern.)

But Tomlinson, Payne, Allen, Hand are spectacular.

And Tomlinson gets nicked up a bit against the Trojans ... all the while, we have people calling Bo the "Glass Hulk" when Dalvin is just as "fragile," if not more, than Bo.

It's my understanding they are looking at four guys and waiting for whomever decides they are going to do the work. I know they are counting on Davis while looking at King, Frazier, and Ball as three more who may develop into those much needed role players.

He sort of reminds me of Cornelius Bennett, maybe because he's such a heavy hitter. Much like McClain too though.

@TheChief @Crimson&WhiteGecko

The thing that separates Foster from McClain and Bennett is his ability in pass defense. Neither of those two could cover as well as Ro, IMO.

And the fact that he makes every tackle with so much force that it could result in a life threatening spinal injury and doesn't have a problem with it.

For the record, I'm not saying he isn't tackling safe, I'm saying he will firmly plant your dick in the dirt!

Your right about coverage. I'm hoping his lighter weight & greater speed will help more this year. Along with being a senior now in the defense, he has all the ability to be as good. Time will tell.

Anderson and Williams play DE in nickel and dime packages in many cases which makes the depth better.

Anderson
Williams
Allen
Payne
Tomlinson
Payne

That was the main group.

Beyond that, we'll see who steps up from this group

King
Ball
Anfernee Jennings
Raekwon Davis
Frazier
Dwight
Smith

The bodies are there. If 3 guys from the bottom list prove their worth, DLine becomes very deep.
