There's so much there that is like that era in Alabama football: even down to the names involved.

Here's a guy who in now way is qualified to be the head coach of a football program but has boosters, former players, and the like pushing the administration to hire him; Shane Beamer.

Now, I have no doubt UofSC could pick up the phone and make a call to a current head coach and he'd head to Cola. But they won't agree to what he wants so far. It reminds me of Frank Beamer having serious interest in coaching the Tide but the administration in Tuscaloosa fumbling.

Beamer and Dooley aren't even comparable here. Dooley's record at La Tech made Mike Hamilton's decision shocking in spite of Dooley's experience as an Athletic Director. It's logical to think an AD can handle the responsibilities of a coach, and he could. The problem was he wasn't head coaching material.

When it comes to Beamer we have neither. However, the love those pushing for him have isn't based on who his dad was it is based on their friendship with Shane as well as their experience with Shane. He's given credit for Lattimore, Jeffery, Shaw, Gillmore, and others because he was the recruiting coordinator at the time. Guys like Lattimore still have a thumb on that department. They associate Shane with Spurrier and now they see the Oklahoma offense and remember those days.

Sure, his last name helps. But I can assure you when the Golden Spurs are talking it's not about Frank, it's about Riley and OU, Spurrier and UofSC, and they're building a dream.

UofSC officially changed their logo and acronym several years ago. It's officially USC for Southern Cal and UofSC for South Carolina. Look at the latter's official web site and logo's.

they can do whatever they want. I will not recognize them as UofSC any more than recognize Ole Ms Rebels as Black Bears... or whatever ( although Black Bears is kinda cool)

Lots ofgood recruiters and OCs and DCs out there That arent successful HCs. Totally different beast.
4 years they will wake up from the dream and
realize ..... if you gonna compete with the big dogs... you better get a bigger meaner stronger smarter dog....
But Vandy and KY will keep them from sinking to the bottom
Be in good company with Missouri and TN in mediocrity
You dont just walk into USCe and think this is football heaven where all kids want to be

Saban ain’t leaving, Urban is still smarmy and unstable and Dabo is where he is gonna be. Whether you are Cackalackey or Michigan or (insert Florida school who wants to be relevant again) you gotta find an OC or DC and do the due diligence and then roll the dice. JMO
