🏈 The Tide That Binds

Wasn't he under consideration to become Bama's head coach at one point? What happened there, and who did we hire?

Do you really want me to get on my soapbox about this???

Basically the jackasses behind the scenes shot it down, and hired non other than Bill Curry. Behind the scenes was basically the AD...I think it was Joab Thomas...can't remember 100% for sure, but it still grates my nerves to this day.

Thomas was the president at the time. Perkins had a larger role to play in Curry's hire than most people discuss to this day. Curry was announced on Sunday. The day before Thomas announced that Steve Sloan was taking over the AD position.

It was Thomas. Bowden had a 525K buyout, and the money was already on the table. Thomas said that UA had too many other needs to spend 525K to buyout a contract. As if the money was his to spend on something else. As soon as he said that, the money went back into the deep pockets from which it came.

Wonder how much we spent on lawyers during the time from 1987 until now fighting the NCAA? 525K would have been a heck of a bargain to have kept the NCAA out of our hair and us kicking everybody's butt during the last 25 years.

Bobby would have been un(dirtyword)believable at UA. There was a big write up about Bobby when we played them in Jacksonville in 07. One thing that sticks out to me in that article was something Terry said. Bobby split the series with Spurrier through the 90's (during Spurriers hay-day in the SEC) 90-99 he was 5-5 against Spurrier. In case your wondering we only beat him twice during that time. Imagine what he would have done to the rest of the conference....ie Auburn.
