🏈 The similarities between Bama vs ND in the '70's and UGA vs Bama now

After game...my mine flashed back to the 70s...
When National Championships were on the line and we couldnt get past nor beat Notre Dame...
Losses in 73 and 74..... and them jumping us in 77.... ( and yes I remember 66)
Their refusing to play bowl games til it was their full advantage...
Anyway..a thought..from yesterday year...it feels good to be on the others side...this morning..
Probably how Uga feels.....2012, 2017, and 2018

I get what you're saying as far as playing ND back to back in the Sugar bowl and Orange bowl. A win and we are national champs in both of them. Even though the UPI press gave us the title in 1973 before the Sugar bowl was played.

Getting denied so many times by the same team gets in your head and heart.

Right, but Bama isn't losing to Georgia, it's the other way around. So that would mean Bama is to Georgia in this era as Notre Dame was to Bama in that era. Right? Like you said, BAMA is on the other side of things this time. If UGA was BAMA's ND of the '70s then wouldn't that mean that BAMA couldn't get past UGA? I get what you're saying but the phrasing makes analogy not work.

Right there with ya @50+yeartidefan I to remember those beatings by that school in Indiana. No matter what we did, we just could not get over the hump. Tom Clements is still a nightmare! What was it 3rd and 35? May need to go see a therapist now with that flashback. The next year 13-11 of my! I also remember Cornelius Bennett putting the hammer on their QB in Birmingham and then of course when we opened a can on them in the national championship. I guess the good evens things out.

All of this is what made the 2012 game so special. I lived through all of those 70 games. Not fun at all...
