🏈 The quandry of wanting both teams to lose: UGA vs Mizzou

After talking with Tiger fans and reading over various message forums I am reminded of Ole Miss fans when it comes to the Mizzou fan base. Their general tone is so reminiscent of 2009 with the (then) Rebel fan base demanding respect while informing the rest of the SEC of just how good they were going to be that season.

I've grown tired of it. It isn't a matter of not having respect for the Mizzou team, but more of the desire to see them smacked into reality that joining the conference and having success can't be based on what they've enjoyed over the past few years in the Big12.

I've said here many a time I simply don't like Georgia. It's nothing about Richt, even though I feel his is one of the most duplicitous people out there, but that dislike is rooted in the majority of the actions of their fan base. I've never seen a group of fans trash other teams' campuses like they do but even setting that aside there are plenty of other reasons for my feelings. Heck, I could start with them ripping down the flags marking past championships at BDS but if I get into that I'll likely never stop.

So, to my point.

I want both teams to lose this game for reasons like the few I've stated above. I've said here I like Mizzou to beat the spread so at least I'll have "something" to root for.

But, in terms of Georgia setting the example of things they can look forward to this season? Can they?

I got this note last night from a beat writer for UGA.
Hearing Commings and Rambo out for MU, Smith and Ogletree likely out, Vasser out along with Shawn Williams.

Do the math T, that's the entire backfield or six of our back seven.

Looks like Smith isn't going to be suspended. He was arrested with another guy for drug possession, but has passed two drug tests since the arrest. I don't know the story, but it sounds like he said the weed wasn't his or at least he wasn't smoking.

Terry, we're on the same wave length with the Georgia fans. LSU fans have that reputation as being "rowdy", and they are certainly rowdy, but for the most part it ends at rowdy. Let's just say I am glad we only have to play UGA every couple of years. UGA has the most obnoxious fan base I have ever been around.

The only high five I could give the Georgia fan base is for their abundance of good looking women...they're not lacking in that department. :congratulatory:

"She's a peach."

I suspect a very small number of those beautiful women can be attributed to the athletic programs. Their attendance? OK, I'll give you that...seems the majority in the world do have an affinity for seeing train wrecks.

He passed a drug test administered by the school when he got back in town... and then a court-ordered one when he had his hearing a month later. It's just.. interesting.

Wanting both teams to lose; yeah, I want that a lot in our conference. Unless it helps Bama for them to win,(and I know sometimes it does) I don't care if every SEC school loses every game.

The Mizzou fans who visited over here last spring seemed like good sorts. I know several of us remember pictures from Athens a few years back where the UGA fans trashed their own campus. You get beyond the bulldog and I can't find much to like about UGA football.

Because of the suspensions mentioned above I think there is quite a good chance Mizzou wins straight up.

I will reserve judgment on the Mizzou fan base for now. Hard to imagine that they are the pigs that UGA fans are.

Living near and working in Atlanta, it's a doggone chore listening to Georgia fans. They have the best program that hasn't won a NC in thirty some-odd years (just ask them), and they really are among the top two (they're being modest) best programs in the free world. I know familiarity breeds contempt, but UGA fans have no grounding in reality. As much as I want the newcomers to get their comeuppance, I'd rather seen the dawgs start out in the hole in the conference.

Tim

I couldn't have said it better myself. The only other thing I can say is close to this is Clemson. They won a title one year because no one else wanted it I guess. Now they rank themselves up there as a traditional powerhouse. I had an argument with a huge Clemson fan one day about their ranking in college football greatness. UGA fans are much the same way. Last year they nearly collectively committed suicide after dropping the Boise State game, but by years end they were back in DAWG form stating they could destroy anyone.

Just tell them it's a football program built by Alabama guys. If they know a damn thing about Clemson, it'll shut them up in a heartbeat.
