I had a gig building a CMA and marketing arm for a gym several years ago. It was in a strip mall, Old Country Buffet was there as well. There's a Ramada across the street...but I'll get back to that in a second.
The owner told me to establish partnerships: free memberships for groups in an exchange for publicity. One of the first I hit up was the OCB. Four memberships equaled 750 free meal gift certificates. Literally, ate there five/six days a week.
Same deal with Ramada...all their guest had free access to the gym. We had free access to rooms and the bar.
