šŸˆ The new class 7A schools in Alabama...

Texas just added 6A, but its a little deceiving, as 1-4 have two divisions, so Texas has 10 classifications...but then again, the state rather large.

Class 6A: 2,100+
Class 5A: 1,060-2,099
Class 4A Division I: 686-1,059
Class 4A Division II: 465-685
Class 3A Division I: 315-464
Class 3A Division II: 220-314
Class 2A Division I: 158-219
Class 2A Division II: 105-157
Class 1A Division I: 55-104.9
Class 1A Division II: 54 and fewer

Daaaaamn son Enterprise is 7A now? I knew the school was massive since they rebuilt it and the stadium is like a small colleges but lord they are gonna get the shit kicked outta them.

There was lots of politicking going on with this. AHSAA Director Steve Saverese's old school (mine as well), Daphne, comes out a big winner.
Brandon, I think Hewitt, Thompson, and Oak Mountain may have a tougher time in that region than County High.

I agree, but the rest of the region should give them fits. They already had Hoover to deal with, but they have several big boys now. Folks here love them some County High though...

Those are some giant schools. By those standards, my high school would have been a Class 1A Division I!

So the school that Alabama QB Alec Morris went to is about 15 miles from me. Allen, TX is 100k+ people in population (there school enrollment is 20k+). They are one of the only cities in the DFW area that I'm aware of that is a single high school town. Example, in Frisco, TX just south of me, they are 100k+ population (school enrollment of 45k) and have 6-7 high schools now (I've lost count). What this means is that more kids get a chance to participate in high school sports. At Allen, its tough to get meaningful playing time in any sport due to them being a single high school town. I still have no idea why anyone would live there due to this...

Now Plano, TX is 250k+ people in population (55k+ student enrollment). I'm at the northern edge of this growth and its about to catch me.

I grew up in Alabama, went to Hewitt-Trussville and the high school was only 10-12th grade. Believe my graduating class back in 1992 was 350'ish iirc. Now Hewitt-Trussville is ~1700 in 4 grades, so it hasn't really grown that much. Allen High has an enrollment of 4400+ to put that in perspective. I swear it looks like a small college campus.

Yep...Our soccer region didn't get any easier either.

Our 7th grade team has a pretty good RB (who is being used...a lot!) and a really BIG and good OL (great kid, too!). With those two, our 7th grade team won more games this year than it has in a few years put together. It's a start.

How strange! We just have a ton of small towns that have their own schools, that pretty much defines the Philly burbs: each small town rolls into the other in a patchwork. We don't have a problem with kids getting play time, to my knowledge. My high school, which drew from 3 towns of about 5,000 people each, had 100 per grade I believe. May be higher now, we had a boom in population a few years ago.

It's kind of strange, I currently live in a town of about 5,000 people but the high school has about 50 kids per grade .. Tiny tiny school district .. And they have a football team! No idea how they man it.
