šŸ€ The NCAA moved another step closer on the journey to expand the men’s basketball tournament.

There's been a lot of major changes in college athletics over the last 3-4 years... I'm trying to remember one right now that I actually liked...
Soon we're going to hear if they are changing what they allow GA's and other "off the field" staff participate in during the summer and fall camp. It essentially would allow teams to have unlimited coaching staff numbers.

Last year they got rid of the voluntary coaching position and allowed a fourth coach in baseball and softball.

Within the last few years they expanded the amount of time coaches can spend with kids in the summer and removed a few other limitations. I want to say they moved from six hours a week to 20.

That one, and the incoming scholarship bumps for baseball and softball are certainly positives. But there's a common thread with the moves that are positive... they are brought forth, and supported by, the actual coaches of the sports. It this other stuff that gets implemented from left field that usually doesn't align with what I'd consider "positive" changes.

Guess it's money.
Considering how the tournament is paid out, it'll mean more money for the Power conferences.

We're already going to see more money dispersed to these conferences following next season's tournament. At least four more bids will be given to at-large power teams.

Yes... It's the NCAA's main money maker and they need to secure as much as they can from it with how the landscape is changing on the football side...
I see a good portion of this coming from expansion. The more good programs a conference has, the more good teams will be left out. Along those same lines these conferences, like the SEC, want as many teams getting paid as possible.

Part of this is going to be changing this upcoming season. Since there's no long a PAC, and they normally get between four and five bids a year, I see the expansion's new slots going to Power conferences.

I believe every one of the decision makers have the upcoming payouts due to court rulings in mind.
