I remember listening to that Missouri game on the radio. I was a young child, yet I still remember how long that night felt. :?

Yep. 11-1 that year. SEC Champs. Delta is right about Todd being the QB. He was the MVP of the Sugar Bowl that year...it's was the first time the Sugar had been held in the Superdome in Louisiana. Ole' Ozzie played in that year as well.

The Mizz game was on a Monday Night. It was a ABC special game of the week.

Yep. 11-1 that year. SEC Champs. Delta is right about Todd being the QB. He was the MVP of the Sugar Bowl that year...it's was the first time the Sugar had been held in the Superdome in Louisiana. Ole' Ozzie played in that year as well.

Hey that also stop a losing streak of 7 bowl games.

Was Winslow not on that Mizzou team? That was a pretty good team if I remember and if I remember correctly, it was played in Columbia.

I used to love our non-conference schedules back in those days. We played OC games like Missouri, Penn St, Nebraska, USC, Notre Dame, Washington and a couple of 'cakes like Wichita St. and Arkansas St. Those were schedules built not to deny the Crimson Tide of chances at #1 although, a couple of times, they were denied anyway ('77 stands out!).

Greg, that game was played in Birmingham, and I remember it well, mainly because my friend, who I had double dated to the game with, [his] car got broken into and the tape deck stolen. It was a Monday nationally televised game and everything Missouri did that day went right.

I remember one field goal attempt by Mizzou even hit the goal post and deflected in for points. I don't recall Winslow in that game, but Tony Galbreath rushed for over 100 yards against the Tide. Talk about a workhorse.

What I couldn't believe was how Mizzou shut down Bama's running game; The Tide picked up only 31 net rushing yards.

The very next week Bama racked up 437 yards on the ground against Clemson.
