Bear Bryant used to say "if a frog had wings he wouldn't bump his butt when he jumped". Sports fans frequently have speculated about "If only this had happened..." but that's pointless. The players have to go out on the field and execute, or as Nick Saban would say, finish. Then nobody has to play the "if" game.
