I'm with @TerryP I'm always on TDY all the time, and I usually have coworkers with me. One thing I noticed those who does that are usually females.

It's smart to do that if you're in San Jose. Last time I was there, Front desk told me they had beef up security because incidents was happening a lot in the area. I"m in San Jose few times a year.

So Peephole: not necessary.
Securing the door- yes.

Everything else. unnecessary.

I don’t see the issue at all. Cleaning some of the surfaces and covering the peephole. Not sure what the deal with the light is
