...isn't the hire of High School, in my opinion.

The biggest news is that they got turned down by Searles.

Searles is a pretty good football coach. The fact that he turned down his alma mater seems to indicate that (a) Auburn isn't going to be willing to pay assistants enough to lure them away from good jobs, (b) Auburn insiders know that the mess with the AD and the trustees is bigger than they want to get involved with, (c) many Auburn people still think the hiring of Chizik is joke and he's gonna fall flat on his face, or (d) all of the above.

Think about it for a minute. Mark Richt may be a dead man walking himself. Only Les Miles will have more heat on him next year. Richt could easily be fired, which means Searles would be fired also. Yet he chose to ride things out with Richt rather than jump at the chance to go back to Auburn. I think that speaks volumes about the state of affairs in Opelika.

I agree with this statement ONLY if Richt's decision to retain the services of Willie Martinez continues to bite him and it did bite him in a huge way this year. It reminds me a lot of a certain coach at Alabama who was unwilling to make changes on his staff.
