šŸˆ The Bama bias is from rival fans, the media, and Bama fans as well.

With fans from rival schools we can call this a bias or we can call it fatigue. Both of these fits and to me I get it. They see a team that is 55-4 over the last four years and they can't stand the run that Bama has been on in the playoff era. There are a few that appreciate the success but there is a huge number of college football fans who are just jealous. They can't stand the success! I don't know if it is bigger in the older crowd who remember Bear's time or it is bigger with the young crowd.

With the media there is some fatigue there. I see it a lot with certain media members who troll fan bases more than they report I see it around the media world because they hold Alabama to a different standard. If the team doesn't go through the season undefeated they aren't as good as they have been If they beat an Arkansas team by 41 it should have been 51. All year long they've told us to look at LSu and the offense and then when we lose by 5 it's because we aren't as good as we're supposed to be.

Bama fans have shown their bias this year. Saban made a mistake when he used the phrase Bama standard because now alot of fans expect the team to be the same as they were in 2011 when the d shut down everybody. Even with all thats happened this season with injuries and young uns playing thats not a reason it's an excuse. In fact it looks like a lot of Bamafans hold the team to a higher standard than the media does. I've seen a lot of bitching this year about things that were not in their control.

I found this message a few days ago that does a good job summing all of this up.

Good day to reflect on the widely-held, largely implicit anti-Bama bias...

In the college football world. First, let me say this: I'm not bitching about it, nor do I hope for any reprieve from said bias in the near future. That said bias exists means one and only one thing: you're the king, and you tend to run shite. Having said that, it's a good time to consider just how much this pervasive anti-Bama bias colors commentary, perception, opinion.

We could all cite legitimate examples, for they are many. They really all boil down nicely into one simple precept, however: our accomplishments are diminished while our deficiencies are highlighted--and unexcused. That one premise helps decode all the chatter from the talking heads babbling and hoping that somebody, anybody will displace us at the head of the table.

Specifics: OSU beat a Wisconsin team that would lose four in the SEC West. LSU beat a Texas team that might lose its next three and be fighting for bowl eligibility. Auburn has an above-average DL and a 3A high school offense. I'll give 'em the Florida win, but the Gators are no contender. Clemson has beaten exactly nobody. Same with Penn State. But we're the ones with the weak schedule, haven't proven anything, lightweight resume, etc. Again, that's what happens when everybody secretly wants to cut the brake lines on your Bentley.

Here is where I think the wins against nonranked opponents is ignored. It's also where I think game against ranked teams are ignored. Just because Bama lost to the #2 team in the playoff ranking now they aren't a team that shows up. They aren't as good. But that not true. We are still beating the teams we are supposed to beat and beating their collective butts when we do.

Oklahoma can't say that.
Utah can't say that.

But no one wants to point that fact out.

I agree with your sentiment there. The Bama fatigue is on in full force but I understand why. I pretty much felt the same about USC & thought they'd get slaughtered by OK for the national championship but boy was I wrong. And I gleefully watched Texas beat them. So I can empathize.

But I do not think our defense has been up to par at all this year. But those are for legitimate reasons. Coaching turnover the last three years, players going pro that had no business declaring, & terrible injuries this year. I have 100% in Coach Saban to get his "Bama Factor" Defense back if we can get 2 consecutive years of D Coordinators & minimal injuries.

Defense STILL wins championships. Thats why Clemson dominated last year in the Playoffs & I think that is why OSU will do the same. And I think LSU is in BIG trouble for the playoffs because they don't have a lock down defense.
