Alabama. “Feast or famine. They go as the guards go. They come at you hard, so you have to be ready for that. They take bad shots, but they make bad shots. If their shots aren’t going in, they still play hard enough that they can grit out a win. They play hard, but they don’t defend well. The weak side is very weak. If you move the ball from one side to the other, they don’t want to play long possessions of defense. That’s how Missouri beat them, just grinding out and going back and forth. Their pressure is difficult, but it also opens up the court. They give everybody a chance to beat them because of the way they play. JD Davison is a big-time athlete, but he doesn’t make every possession count. He’s streaky as a shooter. They lost so much defensively last year, especially Herb Jones. You can score on Davison a lot easier than you could score on John Petty. I’m not a big Jahvon Quinerly guy. I think he can be a disruptive force on their team. Who’s officiating is a big thing when you play Alabama. They love to put their head down and drive, so if you’ve got officials that are calling a tight game, it’s hard to stop that. If it’s a physical game, you can beat ’em.”
