Everyone has been bitching about that and Saban since 2007.
I find it a waste of time to get into discussions about how Saban uses timeouts; whether it was in 2007 or in 2019. It's always been something fans question, some bitch about, but how he manages a game and the subsequent time outs is a part of who he is as a head coach. It's how he manages his games.
We discuss players and their performances and can point to areas where they aren't ready, aren't in the right position, or are making mistakes that can be corrected with coaching.
Time outs and Saban fall outside of that type of discussion. He's not changing and how he manages the use of his time-outs seems like a waste of breath. At least it is to me.
Pardon the analogy but I view it a lot like POTUS and his activity on social media. It is who he is. We know it's the case and we can sit here and talk about it until we're blue in the face. What good has it done? None. Is it going to change? After 10+ years it's a safe assumption to conclude, "no."
You heaping great praise on ole ms QB last week...6 ints from Arkansas this week...
but ....last week he was great...
just saying nix is talented... freshman of year in sec says something...even if you dont like it
This is what you get when you don't follow game threads. It's not like I expect people to keep up with what all the members post. But, in this case...
A lot of people seem to forget that players are graded after every game.
...and the same goes with coaching.
Everything we've said about Kiffin was on full display this past Saturday. When he's focused he does a hell of a job. When he's not, we see questionable results; often bad.
The game plan they had going into Arkansas wasn't anywhere close to the plan they had against Bama. They didn't utilize tempo very often at all. When they did, like late in the game in their last drive, they did well. When they didn't? FUBAR. There was little motion, if any, during the game. It was, literally, one of the most vanilla games I've seen Lane call since his days back at USC.
It can be argued he shot his wad against Bama. I don't believe that's the case. He certainly had a case of blue balls going into the game against the Tide: that was the piece he wanted this season. As some have described, "his Super Bowl."
I have a hard time believing this to be the case even though it looks like Kiffin and his staff didn't watch any game film leading up to Arkansas. It's been discussed, pre-Ole Miss game, how much Odom had been using a zone defense. It looked like the Ole Miss staff hadn't seen a zone before Saturday. Kiffin didn't throw those INT's. He certainly didn't have his offense prepared to attack the zone.
