Meyer is 56 and certainly has all the money he’ll ever need. At a certain level, I can understand the drive to be relevant and reach, and/or regain, the pinnacle of your chosen pursuit. He’s been there. He has had health (honestly, I believe a portion of it is mental health) issues suggesting he couldn’t withstand another stint in the crucible. Despite my dislike of his represented teams, I wish him a comfortable retirement in the relaxed environs of broadcasting.
On the other side of things, you have Coach Saban spending one game away from the sideline and lamenting how terrible it would be to leave the game. I teared up a bit when I read that.
I think we have another five years of this.
