šŸˆ Team Report: Fall Scrimmage #1 : Comments, articles, and discussions covering Bama's scrimmage.

There will be a lot of speculation about why Drake didn't participate--unless Saban addresses the reason or @CrimsonBoz has info--so I'll begin. Kiffin is has something up his sleeve that involves Kenyon that he doesn't want to reveal yet. Yes?

Ok its concluded, Let me roll up thoughts and post give me a bit.
@CrimsonBoz , You know its a NOW DAMN IT NOW world. We gotta know instantaneously. Naw, collect your thoughts and tells us what you saw when you are able. Thanks for the updates. Sounds like the D is ahead of the O as usual. As far as the QB race, I know competition is good and the cream should rise to the top. Hopefully this is true and we shall see what happens in the near future.

Ok my thoughts on QB and that of coaches, talent scouts.

Offense is horrid,

Barnett got equal 1st team reps threw a total of 4 picks but still looked good in certain aspects :puke:
Coker was even worse as it went along, his accuracy and consistency is totally garbage :smh:
Cornwell was OK at times but nothing consistent at all :bandhead:
Morris started good then mehhhh with picks/ fumble :blahblah:
Bateman just no

Injuries:
Drake strained hamstring
Foster, Robert strained knee

Right now they evaluate the order based on today as, but that is just a guess from the on lookers, coaches, talent folks.

1. Barnett
2a. Lord Cornwell
2b. Morris
3. Coker
4. Master Bateman

Good part: Defense

Our defense is good, really good

Secondary looked sharp as I've seen in YEARS

Fitzpatrick is a freaking stud

Cyrus looks good as ever

Dline consumes the middle, fast to the edge, just beast

Random:

Play cards are in use
Saban not happy about qbs

Interesting that you have Barnett that high. I was told he had one of his worst days thus far. Care to elaborate on him, Cornwell, Morris, and why Coker is so far down?

I'm not being critical, I'm just curious. Wasn't there, and was provided minimal info after it was over, most of which was positive on the defensive side that has already been discussed.

@AaronSuttles: Reading between the lines on Saban's "QB doesn't need to win the game" line. That tells me he knows this defense is real good and....
Yeah, did anyone watch the live press conference. As @Sgt. Lincoln Osiris said, Saban must be real pleased with the D. QBs, not so much. Saban seemed pleased with the RB corps. to include the Harrison. I hope the O can put it together.

It was just kind of their look on it, things like potential, throwing motion, movement in the pocket etc were discussed. He did have some awful interceptions but they seemed forced trying to make something out of nothing. He seems to have a better pass, leads the reciever, guides them to safety if you will.

Coker had only a few good passes, everything else was a pick, late, overthrown etc. Jake has all the looks his consistency bugs me alot.

Cornwell is basically average, some good throws some bad, he under throws alot btw. Doesn't have great pocket presence but OK, defense wasn't helping him any.

Morris looked to be the best in the beginning then went down hill quick. Once again no consistency.

The guys I spoke with all think Morris or Barnett if the game was tomorrow should play. Obviously we have another scrimmage and maybe of these guys will have a breakthrough and get seperation.

What a mess with the QB's...

Great news on the D though! I kind of expected Sheffield to be getting the love that Minkah Fitz is... But that is very exciting. With his size he could literally play any position in the secondary (CB/FS/SS/Star). Good thing we didn't lose him to FSU down the stretch, cause if the hype is real he's going to be special.

Speaking of Sheffield, is he playing CB or Safety? I was disappointed to hear him taking reps at WR originally, but glad to see him back on D.

I wonder if anyone stuck out rushing the passer today... Boz?!

Thanks for the updates. Much appreciated

Could you go through and discuss the safeties and CBS like you did the QB. Thanks for the info Boz. :beer-cheers emoticon this site needs:

OK this group is looking really good.

Safeties:

Free Safety

Geno has good speed and seems to really enjoy playing FS, he has good instinct and hits hard. He is faster than Perry which is an upgrade.

Ronnie Harrison could start here no issues, he only lacks game experience. He is fast, can jump, hits like a ton of bricks, nose for the ball.

SS
Eddie finally found his calling, it was like watching a new man. He hits hard, is faster than LC and covers well enough for a safety.

Hootie, I like him alot, he gets the defense and was in position literally every single time. Him and Eddie are easily interchangeable.

Corner back

Cyrus is solid as a rock, great speed, is super aggressive, I see no issue at all here. He is alittle short but boxes out so well it doesn't matter.

Tony Brown, fast, agreesive, chip on shoulder, and is light years past where he was.

Minkah Fitzpatrick is a freaking star right now, I couldn't believe the interception he had. Unbelievable athlete, he is going to play some where he has to be on the field.

Humphrey wasn't 100% so hard to say. He definitely has speed, and great physical presence.

Anthony Averret did really nice as well and that kid is freaking grease lightning.

Mo Smith is experienced and solid but I think he isn't the athlete some of the young guys are.
