Show Your Class

Nobody likes to lose, especially a big game like today. The job that CNs and his staff have done at Bama has been unbelievable! 3 national championships, SEC titles, numerous players in the NFL and making Bama relevant agian to name a very few. You win as a team and lose as a team! Today, we lost and as difficult as it is to say, I'd like to congratulate Auburn on the win. The sun will come out somewhere tomorrow, most of us have good health, jobs and families that love us. Life will go on and we need to show class in the loss. It's easy to do when we win most of the time, let's show everyone we can do it when we lose.

It is a great thing that when we loose it shows the other side of the fan base because a neighbor that has not spoken to me in several years just texted me a bunch of Allbarn crap. Looking beyond the crap at least the neighbor is talking to me again. Class is always better when served with good treasures like this. Yes they won but now a neighbor that hasn't spoken to me because of football is friendly again. (She is hot)

Well said!!!

If you have ever competed for anything then you have known defeat. I was a Golden Gloves boxer. I know first hand the PAIN of defeat but I have never suffered shame in defeat. Shame only comes into play when you don't do your best.

In 1976 I was crushed when I got knocked out in the second round of the championship fight for my age /weight class. I hurt a hurt that I can still feel, but there was no shame. I carried myself with class and I expect no less from my crimson kin at this time. We are still the best college football program of all time. Act like it.

Spot on Larry.

You have the link but this is the words we all need to read. It is still good today

This was a hard loss for the team, coaches and the fan base of the Alabama Crimson Tide. Fans can complain over this call or that call the refs did or didn’t make, decisions by coaching staff that were or were not made or personnel that may or may not have had enough playing time.
Or they can simply say, congrats to Auburn, they played their butts off and they won.
No one thought, or should have thought, that Alabama would never lose. Did anyone think Nick Saban would never make a bad decision or that Cade Foster or any kicker would never miss a field goal?
Alabama’s history of starting slow cost it tonight. Alabama taking a too conservative approach cost it tonight. There were lots of things that didn’t go wrong for the Tide at certain times, but that’s football.
Let the Auburn fans have their day, they’re not ever going to have as many as we do. If they boast, simply say, “You earned this one. Congrats!
Coach Bryant used to preach to win and lose with humility.
People who say someone accomplished things because they were lucky are usually people who have never accomplished anything of their own. Auburn made their own luck, they put themselves in a position to take advantage of a break and they did it. Ask any failure if successful people are lucky and they’ll always say yes.
As a writer, I greatly underestimated Auburn’s skill and more importantly, their coaching abilities and the hearts of the players. As an educated person, I realize that I can not hope to be any more perfect than any football team in my predictions. As a man I want my son to emulate, I can admit I was wrong. I didn’t just think Alabama would win, but do so in a blowout fashion. Again, I was wrong.
There you go folks, as much as that hurt to write and to say publicly, it makes me proud to able to do it. I represent this magazine, this school, this state, region and sport in everything I write and am proud to be associated with all of these things. I want to proud of the Alabama fan base too.
That’s just the way it should be.
So to Auburn, their players, coaches and fans, congrats. You played a great team today, won and you earned the win. You proved why the SEC is not only the best, but the most exciting conference in all of football. RollllTide!

Preach! As much as I haaaaaate them .. Tip of the hat.

Good stuff Larry! I certainly needed this, this morning.

The second bullet to this is showing loyalty to a hurting team. We can second guess all day long but I know they have already done that 10x more already.

Be a loyal fan. Some might think that is drinking the cool aid, but that is the definition of a fan, short for fanatic.

As soon as the returner crossed the goaline, I was on FB eating crow and congratulating my Barner friends. I told them that even though I did talk trash all week that I was man enough to step up and be gracious in defeat. I even did so on Twitter and tried to help keep the heads of ou players up. I then got wind of people threatening Cade Foster. I went to both social media sites and told my friends and followers to unfriend or unfollow me if that is the way they are going to act. This morning, I was reading the status of a former player on FB and he posts how "Cade Foster should be run out of the state!" I immediately unfriended his azz!! I'm not playing!! When I coached, I always told my teams that we were to ALWAYS play with class, win or LOSE!! I told my teams that they were representing their school, ther community, me, and above all else, their family. You have two names on your jersey, the school on the front and your parents' name on the back. They may forget who you played for, but they will NEVER forget your last name. Don't ever embarass either!!!

I don't even know where to begin. This sucks, but it is a game and it is very hard to go through a season undefeated. You have to have some luckand I'll leave it at that. I am hurting too much right now to think clearly or rationally without saying something that I can't take back. I love y'all and Bama sports, especially football. Roll tide.
