Don't recall the specifics, but the hit on Norwood by LSU #6 was what the rule was written for IMO....I mean the LSU player took 2 damn steps and nailed him in the helmet, AFTER he was already tackled and down by another LSU player.

Now I know this year there have been some ??? calls pertaining to this rule, and most have been overturned after review. But to me that was a textbook example of the intent of the rule, but yet it was NEVER called.

I know BAMA won and it didn't effect the outcome of the game so that is not my reasoning for bringing it up. Had it been the other way around (BAMA on LSU player), I would feel the exact same way.

What say you guys?

Screamed at my tv when it happened. #6 had a late hit on Yeldon later on that drive and got into it with Fowler I believe. Wanted him ejected, but happy he stayed on the field to watch Alabama score on their ass again.

My understanding is that the call is supposed to be made if there is even a hint of targeting; after review it could be overturned. If that wasn't THE textbook definition of targeting, I don't know what else could be. I think the SEC office will review that play this week. And like Raider said, he still instigated crap after that play. I hope #6 gets his sorry ass suspended for the first half of next week's game.

Thought it was interesting that #6 was laughing with AJ right after the play.

I didn't see it that way, I saw it as him saying my bad and clearing the air. Several plays later, I think some of the Alabama offensive line and a tight end went hard at Loston blocking him out.

No, I saw it the same way, you could see them smiling and laughing with each other. Thought it was a nice gesture.

It didn't bother me so much he wasn't ejected, but it was the fact that there is NO concistency in what calls are being made by the refs regarding the targeting penalties. That hit was obvious head to head on a player already down. His arms never even came up in any attempt to wrap up. Seems like the refs have been slipping up more than usual this year.

That was absolutely targeting. I think had KN laid down for a bit longer instead of popping right back up that the refs would have called it targeting, but since he popped right back up they didn't take it as seriously.

Another proof that rule wasn't thought through long enough before making it a penalty. Of all the targeting calls made this year, that had to be one of the most fragrant. We've been told all year,"if there's any doubt throw the flag and let the replay official decide." They didn't even get the opportunity because the dumbasses on the field made the wrong decision. I hope that crew gets suspended.

Yes, it was. It stunk. (Sorry, BWW. I couldn't help myself.)

What I don't understand is that it's already going to be 15 yards... Why not just call it targeting (which is supposed to be thrown at the slightest hint) and let them decide if it was eject-worthy? Makes no sense. I hope to god they just make it where they can pick up the flag after the review for next year.
