Alabama opens as early betting favorite over USC
The 2016 football season is still eight months away, so what better way to pass the time than with an early betting line.
Alabama opened as a double-digit, 14-point favorite over its 2016 season-opening foe, USC, according to 5Dimes.com.
The Crimson Tide and Trojans will kick off their seasons inside AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Saturday, Sept. 3. The kickoff time and television selection have not yet been announced, but the game is likely set for prime time.
This past season, the Trojans finished with an 8-6 (6-3 Pac-12) record and lost to Wisconsin in the Holiday Bowl, 23-21.
The eighth season-opening contest inside Jerry World will be the eighth meeting between the two storied programs and the first regular-season matchup since the 1978 season -- a game USC defeated the Crimson Tide by a score of 24-14 in Birmingham. Alabama and USC also faced off in the 1985 Aloha Bowl. The Crimson Tide won that contest by a score of 24-3.
Alabama leads the all-time series against USC, 5-2, and will look to increase the win-column number on Sept. 3 when the Crimson Tide begins its quest to defend its title in Nick Saban's 10th season at the helms of the UA football program.
