It was a hot and humid and storm clouds threatened to send the team inside for the first day of fall camp. Instead of a split-squad practice like they normally do the first day of camp with veterans in the morning and freshmen at night, UA instead went with one practice to open camp. Here is what I saw during the media viewing period.

Outside linebackers went through drills in the following order under the director of first-year assistant coach Tosh Lupoi: Denzel Devall, Ryan Anderson, Tim Williams, Rashaan Evans, Christian Miller, Jamey Mosley, Mehki Brown and Joshua McMillon. Tim Williams looks much more physically developed to me this year, particularly in the lower body through the midsection (the power base of a football player).

Defensive linemen went through drills in two-man drills in the following order: Jarran Reed and A'Shawn Robinson, Dalvin Tomlinson and Jonathan Allen, Darren Lake and D.J. Pettway, Da'Shawn Hand and O.J. Smith and Joshua Frazier and Daron Payne. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, this defensive line is loaded.

Running backs went through drills in the following order: Derrick Henry, Kenyan Drake, Bo Scarbrough, Ronnie Clark, Walk on not on the roster, Damien Harris and walk ons not on the roster. Scarbrough wore a black jersey but it is significant progress that he went through drills. That's a positive sign for the depth at running back.

Offensive linemen went through drills in the following order: With the first team from LT to RT...Cam Robinson, Ross Pierschbacher, Ryan Kelly, Bradley Bozeman, Dominick Jackson. In three-man drills it was the following order from L to R: Robinson, Kelly, Jackson, Pierschbacher, J.C. Hassenauer, Bozeman, (Not on roster), Brandon Kennedy, Brandon Greene, Isaac Luatua, (not on roster), Alphonse Taylor, Dallas Warmack, (not on roster), Richie Pettibon, Matt Womack. I did not see Josh Casher on the field.

Quarterbacks threw passes from two different groups. In one group it was in order: Jake Coker and Alec Morris. In the other group it was David Corwell, Cooper Bateman and Blake Barnett.

Middle linebackers saw a combination of Reggie Ragland, Dillon Lee, Reuben Foster and Shaun Dion Hamilton worked with the first team. As you should know if you're a frequent reader of the practice report, Lee has worked with middle and outside linebacker, a lot depending on what the defense is in re: base/nickel/dime.

Cornerbacks worked in the following order: Tony Brown on the left side with Cyrus Jones on the right. Working behind Brown was Kendall Sheffield and behind Jones was Sylve.

That's all I had time to witness today.

-I hope there are no issues with Casher! Hassenhauer may be the next man up at Center, but he has potential to play guard too.

-Glad Harris is already running #3. Need to get that boy ready

-I believe Barrineau is on scholarship now. I'm not surprised he's running with the #2's. He always impressed in the videos of practice... Good size and athleticism. Could be a real good story in the making

-Not sure Falkins will ever make an impact. I like Keif a little more, but they may have the same speed issue.

-Really interesting that Kirven is #2 LT... Although it wouldn't surprise me if it's not Piersbacher and someone else plays guard. Maybe Brandon Greene/ Go to say that on that roster, there just aren't many legitimate OT options. Losing Grant Hill was a big blow...

-Alphonse Taylor appears to have been beaten out by Bozeman and Piersbacher. I hope he figures it out, he's so big that he could dominate.

Was hoping Humphrey would be making more noise by now. Being behind the experienced seniors and Brown is one thing, but a true freshman? Maybe(hopefully) Sheffield is just simply the real deal.

Yeah. I thought Greene was back with the OTs lately. I would have expected him at 2nd LT over Kirven.
