Softball. NCAA SOFTBALL TUSCALOOSA SUPER REGIONAL GAME 1: Alabama Beats Michigan, 4-1
The Alabama Crimson Tide (54-7) beat the Michigan Wolverines (42-16) by a score of 4-1, to take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three 2012 NCAA Softball Tuscaloosa Super Regional being held at Rhoads Stadium Thursday and Friday.
Alabama opened the scoring with a run in the bottom of the second inning before tacking on three more in the fifth inning. The Wolverines got on the board with its lone run in the top of the sixth.
Alabama sophomore Jackie Traina (36-2) took the win while Michigan freshman Haylie Wagner fell to 32-6 with the loss. The two teams return to action Friday at 3:30 p.m. with Michigan as the home team. A win by Alabama would advance the Tide to the Women's College World Series while a Michigan win would force a series-deciding game at 6 p.m. on Friday.
