Less than 24 hours after winning the Most Valuable Player award in Super Bowl 50, Denver Broncos' outside linebacker Von Miller took to Instagram to remember the life of one of Alabama and the NFL's best rushers off all time Monday.

Miller, who was a terror off the edge in Denver's 24-10 win over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, posted a picture of the lateDerrick Thomas on Instagram. Thomas died of a pulmonary embolism after a car accident on Feb. 8, 2000.

"RIP LEGEND! LOVE I try my hardest to make you proud I'm wearing the #58," Miller's Instagram caption said.

At Alabama, Thomas broke many Crimson Tide records, including sacks in a single season. He was awarded the Butkus Award in 1988 after he set an NCAA record of 27 sacks. He currently holds the FBS' single-season sack record and what was the career sack record with 52. He was also selected as a unanimous All-American at the end of that 1988 season.

Thomas was chosen with the fourth overall pick of the 1989 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs. He totaled 126.5 sacks in his 10-year career in Kansas City and still holds the single-game record of seven sacks (vs. Seattle in 1990).

The Alabama star was named an All-Pro six times and voted to nine Pro Bowls. He was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2009 on his fifth year of eligibility, and Thomas' No. 58, which Miller also wears, was retired by the Chiefs.

Miller filled up the box score against the Panthers, registering six total tackles, 2.5 sacks, two forced fumbles -- which proved to be crucial plays in Denver's Super Bowl win -- two quarterback hurries and one pass breakup Sunday.

After the RIP- his post was the Instagram about Derrick I'm not a member I don't think?
