Get the picture?

Stanford, winning its fourth straight against USC, storms the field?

Utah, after winning its third straight, storms the field? (OH, to be flagged for, giving BYU another shot at a FG, which they missed...for which the Utes stormed the field again?)

It just shows a fanbase that isn't used to wins.

Stanford is 23-3 the last two years.

How is that not used to winning? They were 8-5 in 2009 when they beat USC (9-4) by 34.

Add to that, Stanford has NC winners in every nook and corner of the Athletic Dept. Granted, none recently in football, but winning sports programs is ingrained in their tradition.

Utah, over the last decade, has a winning percentage of over .730. Now, I understand some of the rivalry aspects of the Mormon Bowl, but still—they beat BYU 54-10 last season.

Lane Kiffin has never impressed me as a head coach. His biggest claim to fame is a "close loss" to Alabama in 2009, when the Tide won the BCS championship. I don't see how he was qualified to take over a marquis team like Southern Cal.

He does have one "big win" on his resume as a head coach; a three point win over Oregon last season which ended the Ducks hopes of making it to the BCS title game.

Of course, there is that little irksome detail about Oregon being at the USC 20 yard line and missing a field goal as time expired.

I just shook my head watching that Utah-BYU game. The fans almost cost them a game. I just kept saying "this is why you don't let fans storm the field..." over and over. If I was Kyle Whittingham I'd build a giant chain link fence around the inside of the stadium.

I don't have feelings for either team, either way.

I do have to admit a part of me was hoping he'd make that last field goal. IF fans would have cost them the game it would have been a storyline for a good part of this week, and we'd hear about it throughout the rest of the season as well.

It MIGHT have been a lesson taught to one, learned by all.

Same here. I didn't necessarily care who won, but it would have been a great "poster child" for ending stuff like that.

you think he beats them this year? Oregon seems to have more offense this year than last year, not sure yet about their Defense to compare it to last year. I know they have been recruiting bigger DL the last couple of years.

As a rule of thumb, I do think storming the field is an indication a program has been low. I remember Kentucky storming the field against Bama.It had been seventy-some-odd years since the kitties won. I was at the ut game in 1982 when the ugly orange tore down their goal posts after an 11 year streak against the Tide (Stuck in a parking spot on Kingston Pike for hours as well as they carried the pieces up and down the road). Seems like we went through a time where several teams got new posts after playing Bama.

If you're tearing down goal posts, in general, life hasn't been all that great for your team. Terry, I agree, Stanford storming the field does surprise me. In state, maybe someone ginning up some hype in the media, Lane Kiffin.

Based on what I've seen—which is nothing from Oregon other than clips and box scores and some of the game with 'Cuse and a good portion of last nights game—I'd call Oregon by double digits.

Pretty dumb for a bunch of "smart kids". :icon_rolleyes:

Okay, I forgot about that one. Still, he doesn't impress me very much. He is overrated as a coach as far as I can see.
