ArDarius Stewart explains meaning of sideline axe

Alabama wide receiver ArDarius Stewartleft Saturday’s game at Ole Miss late in the first quarter with a sprained knee, but the redshirt junior didn’t allow his injury to keep him from motivating his teammates, especially his fellow receivers.

Stewart shed his shoulder pads and emerged from the locker room holding an axe. Fittingly, the Crimson Tide cut its 24-3 deficit to 24-17 at halftime and chipped away until it took its first lead in the game with 6:03 left in the third quarter.

On Sunday morning, back in Tuscaloosa, Stewart took to Twitter to explain the meaning behind the axe.

Taking a closer look at the axe, the word assassins, Stewart’s nickname for the wide receivers, actually runs up the crimson belly of the handle. The belly leads to a black head and blade that, of course, houses an Alabama script A.

Although he admitted he didn’t know much about it, Nick Saban was intrigued by the axe just like everyone else.

ā€œYou know, I was going to ask him that,ā€ Saban said. ā€œI’ve never seen the axe before. I really don’t know much about it. I don’t really think it had any impact on the outcome of the game. I would rather him have his stuff on out there playing. He’s been a fabulous player for us and a really good leader and a great competitor. Hopefully we get him healthy and get him back soon.ā€

yep....i saw it and the assassins wording down the handle. first iv seen it. I knew the receiver core called themselves assassins. "I'm guessing the whole "we will cut you up" idea. Not too sure.

I hope he get a guard on the end of it. I don't want any one getting cut with it. Also saw the belt for the first time!

They've shown it pretty much everytime Alabama gets a turnover the last few years.

Hey man, I feel you. I lived in North Tuscaloosa county, and was unhappy with Charter, so I tried HughesNet a few years ago.

I tried it for 3 days before I switched back to Charter. Lol.
HughesNet is what I have for the net right now. But I live way out in the county so this is the best way. Before that it was the old phone line to hook up to the Net.
