Mississippi State hasn’t lost. Florida State hasn’t lost. Auburn hasn’t lost. Alabama hasn’t lost. Despite all that, Oregon has leapfrogged the entire lot to become the new national title favorite according to online sportsbook Bovada.

Oregon is the new favorite to win the national championship at 9-to-2, followed by 'Bama (5/1), FSU (6/1), Miss. State (7/1), per @BovadaLV

The Ducks were ranked fifth in last week’s College Football Playoff poll, and rank fifth in the latest AP poll, but surpassed Alabama and Mississippi State (plus fallen Georgia) from last week’s odds, moving from 7/1 to 9/2 over the course of a week.

The guess here is that the SEC race is just too close to call at this point and bettors like someone with a more sure-fire shot to reach the Playoff. But the Ducks don’t even necessarily have that, what with this week’s trip to No. 20 Utah and a presumptive date in the Pac-12 Championship, most likely against No. 11 Arizona State. That honor goes to Florida State, who stands at 8-0 and, depending on how Duke finishes the season, may not face another ranked team this season.

On top of that, Marcus Mariota is now Bovada’s clear favorite to take home the Heisman Trophy.

Our updated CollegeFootball odds to win the Heisman has Marcus Mariota favored to win. http://bit.ly/CFB-props

This one is much easier to digest. Mariota is the nation’s most efficient passer, hitting on 68.1 percent of his passes for 2,542 yards (10.2 yards per attempt, tied for second nationally) with an astounding 26 touchdowns against two interceptions plus an additional 71 carries for 410 yards and seven touchdowns. Mariota connected on 19-of-30 throws for 258 yards with two touchdowns and one interception to go with nine carries for 85 yards and two more scores in Saturday’s 45-16 defeat of Stanford.

The Ducks head to Salt Lake City Saturday night at 10 p.m. ET (ESPN).

um.....what?
I'm guessing on the writers intent here...but I'm thinking he means neither team has lost since the last time Bovada issued NC/Heisman odds.

Off the top of my head I can think of FSU being favored, Bama as well (at least twice,) and now Oregon. Pardon the use of the old cliche', "there's a bunch of football left to be played" and these favorites changing every few weeks certainly would even out the money being bet—which is the oddsmakers goal, so to speak.
