Why: Blake Sims threw for 286 yards on just 14 completions.

Total offense
Last week: 514.6 yards per game (3rd, 16th)
This week: 508.9 (3rd, 14th)
Why: Alabama finished with 469 yards on 65 plays.

Scoring offense
Last week: 36.9 points per game (6th, 25th)
This week: 36.5 (6th, 25th)
Why: Alabama's 34 points were more than it had in its past two road games combined.

-- Alabama dropped to 31st in the nation in third-down defense after surrendering 11 third-down conversions to the Vols.

-- After its two fumbles Saturday, Alabama moved down to a tie for 114th in the nation with 10 on the season. SMU has been the worst with 14.

-- Reggie Ragland, who now leads Alabama in tackles, is 12th in the SEC with 54.

-- Dickson is tied for third in the conference with 6.5 sacks.

-- Alabama's still waiting for its first pick-six of the season. It's one of four SEC teams without one.

-- Alabama, Auburn and Georgia are tied for first in the SEC with the fewest interceptions thrown (three).

-- Alabama, LSU and Mississippi State are tied for first for the most plays of 20+ yards (52).

-- The Crimson Tide held its place as the only defense not to allow a fourth-down conversion. Teams are now 0-for-8.
