2nd time in 2 weeks they've srota done it (with the PSU stuff)... I get it on one hand... limit the media distractions heading into the playoffs... players were already being asked about it this week before they even left to meet the national media folks in Norman.... but on the other hand, not a great practice to issue denials on every job rumor floating around either.

I was wrong. It didn't even take an hour. If Twitter is any indication, they've dug in an convinced themselves that DeBoer is simply saying this because he wants to coach UA in the playoffs, but he's going to bolt as soon as Bama is ousted. It's this kind of artificially inflated false hope that leads to eventual disappointment with the eventual hire.

I get the reasons to sign an extension due to rumors. But I hate that two years into a eight-year contract, he's probably signing one already.

I don't love it, but 2 years in and a playoff appearance (among some other positives) and it was likely going to come anyway. My understanding is nothing was supposed to happen until the season is officially over, and may still not. But if the trade off is it increases his buyout of he leaves by his own choice (not for being fired), it'll be a good deal for both sides. Could also include an agreement more funding for staff and/or NIL...

Well I can remember back when the retards in administration gave Mike Shula an extension (when no one wanted him) only to fire him the following season and pay extra to be rid of him. Outside the bastard love child of Vince Lombardi and Bear Bryant suddenly showing up, anything after Saban's retirement was a downgrade.

Having a coach being mentioned for other jobs is a great thing. I too would like to see a few things better from CKD and the staff.......but I remember sitting in the stands and watching us lose to Northern Illinois. The difference in the game was a blocked extra point that they ran back for a 2 point conversion. We are in a good spot. We are in the play offs. We are not capable of winning it all this year, IMO......but I think CKD is building and we will get there.
