šŸ“” Staff additions/changes: Reports: Craig Kuligowski hired as defensive line coach

Purdue? in football? ....gotta be shittin' me....
They did open with Mississippi State this season and played Auburn in what...2015, wasn't it?
All risk and little reward game for Bama.
I see it as a good game for Bama to open with considering the losses the defense will deal with in the secondary.

Defensive Backs coach at Ole Miss? Played at Bama, too?
BTW, the only guy I haven't mentioned--or seen mentioned here anyway--is the CB coach at Texas, Jason Washington.

What I'm seeing is an these three (mentioned Terry Josephy with UNC interviewed recently as well) or we could see Golding coaching the secondary.

Also, as suggested when we heard Pruitt was going to UT, it looks stronger today than it did back then we're also looking at Co-DC roles. Personally, I like the idea of Golding with the secondary and finding another linebackers coach to go with Tosh.

I'm ok with Freeze as an offensive analyst, but "negative GhostRider" as an OC. While Freeze's offense did beat us twice, his lack of a run game bothers me, along with his having any dealings with a recruit. His whole "misdial/butt dial" of an escort service will still be fairly fresh in the minds of parents. I think this would definitely turn some away.

I think that's a bit of a misnomer. I don't think we can look at '16 as an indicator because they were already starting to fall apart under the NCAA's microscope. In '15, when Bama was averaging right at 200 per game Ole Miss was putting up just under 185. There's been a few years where Mississippi was within 15-20 yards per game when compared to what the Tide was gaining.

He hasn't had that "alpha" running back we're used to seeing, no doubt.

We'll see how this all plays out. I'm reminded of all the speculation about Chip Kelly taking the OC role when he was just in town visiting. That said, it has to be weighed against what Saban has said about Freeze in the past: there is some respect for his football acumen.

I've honestly assumed this whole time Golding will coach the secondary and share Co-DC responsibility with Tosh.

I'm not a fan of the wide-open spread, 90% in the shotgun/pistol he runs either, though. That would benefit Tua probably but not so much for the O-Line. Or backs. Josh Jacobs would probably flourish in it, though.
I'm also not enthused at the thought of Mike Price 2.0.

Alabama Offensive Coordinator Updates

The Latest

* I am also hearing that former Ole Miss Coach Hugh Freeze will be on-board at Alabama. Likely as an analyst depending on what goes down with the OC position. Saban wants him on board. Don't rule out Freeze and Locksley as Co-Offensive Coordinators.

* Got an update on Chip Long. Here is what I have. Alabama has reached out to Chip and there continues to be conversations and Saban has continued to pursue Long even after Long has tried to close the door. My source told me, that Long is interested in what Alabama has to offer and when Saban speaks, you listen. Notre Dame has also become really competitive with pay for their assistants under Brian Kelly and he should get a big raise soon enough, especially after Alabama has come calling. While Alabama is at the forefront of the college football spectrum, my source tells me that Chip likes the idea of building something special at Notre Dame. Bottom Line: The offer from Alabama in terms of play calling, control of who is for example the OL coach, etc., and cash would be the major turning point for Long.
