šŸ“” Staff additions/changes: Reports: Craig Kuligowski hired as defensive line coach

Let's clarify that a little bit...
Blake Sims then 2 years later Jalen. Both gifted athletes, neither a true QB...

Folks love to jump on the OC for play calling. All I’m saying is that if the starting QB limits your playbook because their weaknesses...it’s not the fault of the play caller. He can only call what the players can run effectively.

I’m simply amazed at some folks lack of objectivity not only in sports, but life in general...

My bad, I had read article earlier so I scrolled right through 'updates' to bottom of site thinking that was where I should be looking. Saban could hire f'ng OJ if he wanted to but Is Freeze really THAT good?

His offense DID beat our stellar D 2 years in a row.

I happen to love this idea. Saban's already adapted and leaned upon the HUNH as a philosophical influence.

Why not take it a step further and get some well-distributed touches to ALL our playmakers?

Big seller: HE LIKES HEAVILY INCLUDING TEs in the passing game.

Where's his running game? It's an air raid offense that will be full of home runs and 3 and outs.

Benefit in Hiring Hugh Freeze

While most would see this as a potential conflict of interest as it relates to recruiting and public image, I do see a glaring benefit in hiring Hugh. Stability. BAMA has had 3 offensive coordinators in 14 months and while we have won 2 out the last 3 national titles, the coaching turnover is not beneficial for many reasons. Hugh Freeze is widely viewed as tainted and would likely be at BAMA for several seasons before repairing his reputation enough to be considered for any coaching jobs. This gives Saban a creative offensive mind running his offense and stability for the team. None of the other candidates can offer this. History dictates that they would likely get poached after 1-2 years. Thoughts?

We got an active thread on this very subject, talking about this very person.

Idk, they had 2,265 combined rushing yards amongst their top 5 rushers in 2015.

2014- 2,046 spread among a plethora of runners

2016- 1,825

Not exactly "air raid", but not ground-n-pound either.

2015 was their best rushing year.

But, his prowess in the passing game by route trees that really find weak spots in the best secondaries (hello, WE would know) could really be utilised with all the talent we have at WR and TE.

Saban will help him keep a good ratio of run/pass.

His 1-year show/cause is misleading. No one will want to touch him as a head coach for at least 2 years because of his baggage as a H.C.

If Saban hires him, it'll be a 2-year image rehab for Freeze, at minimum.

Think about this: we gasped at the thought of hiring Kiffin 4 years ago because of all his "baggage". Saban managed that for 3 pretty damn productive years.

Hiring Freeze is definitely not a stretch here.

Let's just go ahead and officially name it the Nick and Terry Saban Halfway House.

Come on SLO - TOO SOON

Quick way to rehab, Freeze could donate his 1st year's salary to Nick's Kids Lead pray before every game on the field with all those who would want to join in... Have a 40-50pts per game O... Help recruit a couple #1 classes just about go anywhere he would want

I know I should just read up on it, but what's the deal with Freeze's "Show cause" suspension or whatever the hell it is?

Is he able to fully coach and recruit without restrictions next year? If he is...

1. That's terrible. The NCAA is a joke

2. I think he will be a good OC

There is literally no situation I can think of this day in age where stability is expected. These guys will turn and burn at the drop of a hat... And schools are desperately reaching for any optimistic hire.

But, like the OP mentions, with his tainted rep, he would probably be much like CLK and stay for 3-5 years in getting himself back together.. If Locks is really romancing FSU, it would be nice to have an OC in place for several years. and If the DC can be put in place for several years, the only turnover would be the position coaches... Im waiting for 4-2019 to welcome Bo Davis back
