| FTBL Spurrier, Cutcliffe, UNC's Davis not interested in UT

This whole not interested thing doen't mean jack and we all know that's true. We won't know if they are really interested or not until someone is hired at Tennessee.

I know, that's why I said I hope he stays uninterested.

For the record, I am also not interested in the Tennessee job.

:)

I know you say you aren't interested but you haven't said on the record that you won't be the head coach at Tennessee.

Who is the idiot at south florida who said he wasn't interested, when we never considered him? Leavitt? Is that his name?

We had some interest in Leavitt. Didn't offer him the job, but he was one of the names being considered. Pretty good coach, IMO, when it comes to football related issues.

Now, when it comes to other areas? I do wonder about the guy.

He's making some decisions I've questioned and the word getting around is he really has a strange relationship with his assistant coaches.

I can't say I care for the USF fans...they've had some success and it's gone to their heads. Now, I'm seeing the same thing in JL.

If I was an AD, I would walk away from the guy quickly at this stage of the game (his career.)

Regardless of any official interest or not, his name was aired in the media as one of several to be considered. At that point it starts to impact his recruiting. So he is not so much of an idiot to "nip it" ASAP to avoid any misunderstandings that cost his program.

If you pay attention, this happens every year to programs with coaches that are said to be "Rising Stars". Coach Levitt has to do this every year.

Not to turn this into a Levitt thread, but I really like the guy. He took the program from Day One to #2 in the nation. His first office was in a trailer. He saw potential in the USF program, took it when it was the worst job in college football, and showed loyalty, hardwork, commitment, and classiness. What's not to like about that story?

I don't like Levitt at all, but my opinion is based on some anecdotal things I've heard about the program he runs. First, apparantly, the guy lives a bachelor's existence down there, which isn't the worst thing in the world. BUt at Bama, we have needed and now have some stability, and I'm not sure a guy with no family and a "do what I want to do" attitude is best. Again, I'm not ragging on the guy because he's not married. I envy that! Just saying that he's not the medicine ALabama has needed anytime in the past 10 years, and won't be in the future either.

As far as his coaching skill, I still think that's debatable. I see USF as a team that paralells a Houston Nutt coached team. Gimmicks, penalties, and close ball games. Not a complete coach, again, IMHO. USF is performing at a high level, but they are prone to meltdown, as we saw last season. He's good for someone though.
