🏈 Spring Practice 2026: A-Day Reports and Updates

But now I'm lost.
That was sort of the point.

There is no experience.
But there is experience.

New starters.
They've started before.

One of the most interesting things I've seen this spring is Kyle following Tim's playbook from 20 years ago. (Henderson, and Watts, respectively.)

They read, or read in one case, his reports and lo and behold ...

Scrimmage this weekend. Monday should have some legit info.

If Bama had a five star left tackle that saw significan't action last season fans would be excited about having him take over a starting role. But, it wasn't in Tuscaloosa; so doubts emerge.

A guard from Ole Miss is seeing snaps. He started some games last year. IF we had watched a back-up last year, playing two positions, and knew he was getting serious looks this spring? Fans would be excited. But, it wasn't in Tuscaloosa.

One thing that strikes me about this spring is how the facts can be framed. Yes, there is very little experience, in Tuscaloosa, for this offenslive line. But, there's also experience along the lines. But, it wasn't in Tuscaloosa.

When two things can be true but framed as both good and bad. 🤷‍♂️
I think I'm coming along... gotta hold on.. gotta get it right cuz tonight is the night....

Before spring break it was the consensus of the group that Jimmy works with ... I don't know which it is ... that Jayvin was going to be the RG. Now, that was before spring break.

We don't know what the fall will bring. I'm looking at the work on the right side and thinking "they slid a tackle to guard, he should be okay in the running game ... pulling guard."

Hate to hear Crowell still isn’t doing much and it didn’t sound as if he will do much (if anything) at A-Day. I would much rather have him healthy entering the fall but hard to in vision him contributing much, especially early. What kind of ‘deep tissue’ injury would keep a RB out for a month? My thought is a really bad thigh bruise? Thoughts?

It's a calf injury that they want to completely heal so that it doesn't become a bigger issue. If this were in season, he'd be playing more than likely (if needed).

What about the other guys missing spring? Simmons? Sanders? I live in Ocean Springs MS and word is Hubbard was dealing with some bone spurs and had a procedure to clear issue up.
Oldest boy lived in Ocean Springs before he moved on to Baton Rouge. Watched Hubbard's development and recruitment. He's been up and down but, in my view, he is superior to Vinnie Sunseri in that safety spot. Hoping for a great season this fall for him. What a great town Ocean Springs is.

Was there a scrimmage/game Saturday? I've not found anything on it in the usual places I look.....
Friday. It was closed to the media. A few notes, here and there, have cropped up over the weekend.

Earlier in the thread I mentioned having several people mention Noah Rogers as having a good chance to be WR1. It's still moving that direction in my opinion. He had a couple of TD's. Where Ryan got more reps in the first scrimmage, Noah took those in the second. Edwards came up.

To me it looks like we've got the first QB competition to watch in a LONG time. I'll get back to that.

You know how these go. In one, the offense shines. In the other, the defense shows out. The D was working on pressure packages and rushing Friday so that, in turn, skews QB's evals a bit for observers. Some of the new guys like Umeozula were mentioned; Sanders at ILB was another. Edmonds has come up a few times this spring and he did again Saturday...said to have had a pick six in Friday's scrimmage.

QB's: I think this will be fun to watch. I'm coming to the impression that Russell is a bit of a gunslinger type: we'll see the INT's with the TD's. Mack had a couple of picks Friday but going back ... defense was dialing things up.

Positive news on both kickers ...

That's off the top of my head ...
