Granted it was the biggest game in South Carolina history, but I could not help but to notice how Williams-Bryce stadium was rocking! Either it was the placement of the students in the stadium or just a fired-up crowd? Nonetheless, I was impressed by the enthusiasm of their fans. Maybe some of our fans can take a pointer or two on how to stay in the entire game. My two cents.

They were extremely impressive towards the end of the game - I was afraid the stadium was going to collapse with all of them jumping in unison like that...

Do doubt, we certainly need better music that is current - both from the band and the PA system. I didn't hear Green Day from the band last weekend so that is a move in the right direction! Baby steps though, Saban is upgrading the whole experience with surround sound, etc., and believe you me, he and his staff know what the recruits like this day in age. I just goes to show how behind the times we as a football program where for so many years even though we thought we were ahead of the curve.

It's honestly sad how weak our in game stadium atmosphere is. We should be like 05 Florida for every big game.

Sure, that fan base was excited at the end. They were also quiet as a church mouse when Ole Miss driving earlier in the game and scored.

You get that team down, and that stadium empties out quicker than Neyland or Tiger Stadium.

When Bama played there in 2005 I bet there was MAYBE 15K USCe fans left in the stadium with 10 minutes left in the third quarter.

For as rockin as that stadium was they didn't even sell out the game. There were plently of empty seats near the tops and corners of all 3 upper decks.

Just wait till Penn State and Florida come to a 100,000+ seat Bryant Denny Stadium next year. That will silence all the critics about our fan base.

Did anyone notice the empty seats when the camera panned out? Maybe they were all standing on the spirals but having large corners of grandstands empty doesn't look so good to recruits.

Critics? I don't think that BDS has anything to be criticized about. Your stadium is just as loud as any other SEC stadium I have been to(been to all except UK and Swamp), you have the rowdy students, situational screamers, and almost dead old people. The only thing stadiums like LSU and SC have is that they are filled with annoying raging drunks who do not seem to have any courtesy about what they say to opposing teams and their own teams.

For example South Carolina's "Cock Crew" who all dress up in inflatable male genitalia and heckle the crap out of everyone. Although this is humorous to the average college student I was raised with a sense of class and there are way to many kids around to act like that. I have also made the promise to my wife that when we have kids I will not take them to a UT/LSU game in Baton Rouge after the crap they do to opposing fans.......Cajun Hospitality my @$$!!

IMO, some of the tradition rich programs have lots of older people. They have been coming to games for years. They're typically not as loud as your 20-45 age group. Some of the new "elite" programs have a younger fan base and this makes them louder.

Our stadium is better than most. If it was the biggest game in Alabama history (is there even such a thing anymore) our stadium and fans would have been 4 times louder.

Don't be so quick to say Bama fans are sitting on their hands when we sell out every game and are among the loudest, most active fans during big games. ALL stadiums stink during the slow games or blowouts.

Bama has alot of "old timers" that come to the games. I have no problem if some 60 year old guy wants to sit and watch the game. He's got just as much right as I do.

A Bama fan that told me he hadnt been to BDS since 1996 said "man they sure do alot of standing these days!"

It is a new thing, because as a kid I dont remember people standing the whole time. During big plays yes, but the whole time no.

Come on Terry you know that they have a good time and a good fan base. I'm not saying that it is better than ours. The times that I have been to Bryant Denny, I saw a whole bunch of folks just sitting. I realize that some are too old or may be physically handicapped, but there is no excuse for the rest. :elephant:

Yah, I'll agree to that in a sense.

They are very, very fickle. It'll be thunderously loud to start the first half, and cavernously empty to start the second if they are getting beaten.

Heck, the last time we played there I was looking across the field in the second quarter wondering how they got some many to wear light colored shirts. Then, when I grabbed the binoc's I realized I was looking at empty seats. :lol:

I haven't been this year but I plan on making atleast one game. I find it hard to go there and pull for them. A couple years ago I went when Troy came to town, man you should have seen the looks I got when I was cheering on Troy.

I had a ticket Thursday, but mid-afternoon here on the coast it was still raining. Even though the weather ended up being nice in Cola that night, I didn't want to head up there and deal with a humid night.

I doubt I'll make it this year...but, will be there next year for our game. No doubt about it.
