🏈 Source: St. Paul's offensive lineman Josh Casher commits to Alabama

- Four-star St. Paul's offensive lineman Josh Casher committed to Alabama on Tuesday, Saints' head coach Steve Mask confirmed late Tuesday night.

Mask said Casher talked to Alabama head coach Nick Saban at some point Tuesday.

"The situation has been a drain on Josh," Mask told AL.com in a phone interview. "People have been asking him constantly about it. He felt like enough was enough. He had an opportunity to go to Alabama so he went ahead and committed."

The official announcement is expected to be made at 9 a.m. Wednesday via the St. Paul's football office. There will be no commitment ceremony.

Casher told AL.com earlier in the day that, after a weekend visit to Auburn last week, he had narrowed his choices to the Crimson Tide and Florida State.

The 6-foot-1, 300-pound Casher originally committed to Auburn but de-committed in July. His teammate, linebacker Tre Williams, is an Auburn commit. The two were recognized at a special ceremony at the school Tuesday afternoon recognizing them as participants in the 2014 Under Armour All-America Game.

Casher has played tackle for the 7-2 Saints this year but is expected to move to center in college. He is Alabama's seventh offensive line commitment and the second center. J.C. Hassenauer of Woodbury, Minn., also has committed.

"I think he'll be an excellent player for them," Mask said. "With Josh's commitment to the classroom, the weight room and his craft, they are getting a great player. I think he is the best lineman in the state and maybe in the southeast."

Casher is No. 8 on AL.com's A-List of top seniors in the state. He is the third Saint already committed this year behind Williams and linebacker Zavier Carmichael (Duke).

St. Paul's finishes the regular season at Old Shell Road rival UMS-Wright on Friday. The Saints will host Demopolis in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs next week.

Considering our current RBS, and all of them having eligibility remaining, it would be a bit of a surprise if Scarborough did not flip. FSU is after him hot and heavy.

Casher adds to an already outstanding OL group.
