No secret here that Bama has their work cut out for them as they take on the #2 ranked Vols, having to win 2 of 3 in order to advance to Oklahoma City. Tennessee took 2 of 3 from Bama earlier this season in Tuscaloosa (at the end of April). Bama scored just 1 run in that series, winning the final game 1-0. The good news is, Beaver and Briski both pitched well and gave Bama a chance. Briski gave up just 1 ER in 7 IP. Beaver gave up 1 ER in 13 IP. It was the defense and the bats the let Bama down, a theme that carried out for most of the season. And while I tend to think Sunday's offensive outburst against Southeastern Louisiana was more of a one-off, situational type event, my hope is that it at least filled up the confidence cup a little bit for the Bama hitters, which had to be about bone dry at that point. Hopefully, the Tide can go into this feeling no pressure and play loose... if they do, they'll have a chance.
