Nice all around win in game 1.... Wells HR'd twice, Bama had 17 hits. UA score in every inning but 1. Moten, Briski, and Pallozi combined to strikeout 15 in 7 innings.

Started watching the NA game and it the bottom of the 4th it is 12-0 Bama.

The 11th perfect game in UA history (2nd this season)... Briski, Johnson, and Hodges combined. UA scored in 10 of 11 innings in the DH.

I know Bama should beat teams like Jacksonville State and UNA but those are 2 very good teams. Jacksonville State will make a regional this year and their current RPI is 37 (for reference Mizzou is 55). UNA (RPI of 58) also has a shot at making a regional and to have those 2 performances back-to-back against those teams is actually very encouraging especially coming off a rather pedestrian weekend.

Your thoughts on Vandagriff? A sophomore “slump” seems the most logical explanation, and I use the word slump very loosely because she hasn’t been bad. She just hasn’t nearly matched her freshman season play up to this point. And the thing is, it’s not just hitting. Its defense. Her glove and play in the OF has been “off”. Add to that her base running. Steals are way down, caught stealings up (and not just because she isn’t on base as much). Yesterday, she went to 3rd on a non-force play. Sorta overran the bag, but got her foot back on it before the tag. Ump calls her safe, but she either didn’t hear him or see him. She walks off the bag towards the dugout thinking she’s out, and bam. She’s now out. Murphy looked equal parts of shocked and pissed at her. It’s just one play in a game where it didn’t matter, but it also seems to be a microcosm of her season thus far. My first inclination a couple weeks ago was that she had a nagging injury, and perhaps she does. But she’s in the lineup every day, so that seems unlikely.

With Wells behind her, she should be seeing some decent pitches. I guess is she's pressing and maybe has some sort of minor injury impacting her speed (which in turn, is impacting everything else). But she just seems off... distracted. Thoughts?

That look Murph gave her last night told me a lot about the situation. I think something else is going on mentally with her at the moment. Maybe it is caused by injury but I haven't actually heard that. It almost feels a bit disinterested. Her steal attempt in the first inning where she got hosed wasn't good either. She wasn't even close to leaving on time. I will see what I can find out.

Murph needs to move her way down the order just to try to take some pressure off of her. She had such an amazing freshman year (one I didn't see coming at all considering how many times we had played against her) and maybe she is just pressing more now since people expect her to be an All American. If she can figure it out, then this lineup will be even more dangerous.

That was going to be my next comment, suggestion. There are 2 or 3 girls that could move up, even if temporarily, to leadoff and be a good spark IMO. Wouldn't mind seeing Roman get a shot there personally.
