šŸˆ Softball Tabbed No. 2 National Seed

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama softball team earned the No. 2 national seed for the second straight season and the top seed in the NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional, it was announced Sunday night. The Crimson Tide was awarded its berth into the NCAA tournament as the field of 64 was announced on the ESPNU selection show.

The Crimson Tide (50-7) will open regional play Friday, May 18, at Rhoads Stadium against Tennessee-Martin (39-20) starting at 6 p.m. The opening game of the regional gets underway at 3:30 p.m., and will feature South Alabama (39-15) and Georgia Tech (36-21).

I can't take credit for this observation though it is worth noting—or chuckling about—considering the recent Delany conversations.

Don't get me wrong for mentioning Delany. I think he's relevant in his own eyes, and his own eyes only. But I digress...

Here's my point.

The Tuscaloosa regional is the only regional that features ONLY conference champions.

We can make this last comment about Delany, but ONLY if you wish.

The SEC has nine teams in the softball regionals this season. If we include the two newcomers from the Big12, that makes 11. With those two included, that makes six of the top 10 seeds hailing from SEC country.
