šŸˆ So, Sentimore says he wants "to beat Saban"

A thought that crossed my mind today thinking about this...

When we visited Arkansas, there were a good number of players who stopped after the game and spent some time with Darius Philon.

If you don't recall the story behind Darius, he like Sentimore had a mic thrown in his face with questions about Alabama and Coach Saban. Different circumstances between the two, no doubt. But, given every opportunity available to say otherwise Darius let it be known he wanted to play for Bama and the way it all shook out upset him.

Now, Sentimore is talking.

BUT, here's the thing I want you to consider.

When he was on the team and running into the trouble he did it wasn't lost on the team. They all knew what was going on and knew the guidelines asked of all of them didn't mean much to—if anything—to DS.

Now we see these comments...

What do you think the players thinking when they see these comments?

"It's his personality," Sentimore said of Saban. "It's like some players ... he will see you in the hallway and he will walk right past you like he don't even see you. I don't like stuff like that. I ain't going to lie to you. I want this game more than any other game because I want to beat Saban.

"I have had this game on the calendar for a long time."

Sentimore went on to acknowledge that Saban runs a tight ship at Alabama.

"You can't get into no trouble. You can't get into the doghouse. You have to stay focused," Sentimore said. "If Saban sees you are focused, he will play you. Saban is on those guys. He's a defensive-minded coach. He's in the meetings and everything with the defense. It's all about the defense. You have to play for 60 minutes (against Alabama) because they are going to go hard and out-physical you. You have to play for 60 minutes.

Ya know, some things are just better kept to yourself. He sounds like a guy that doesn't like to work hard to me.

This was also brought up in the UT week thread.

Everything I've read on him today suggests he had issues in the past, even at HS level. Not sure if it is true or not but apparently he smoked dope, set off fireworks in a dorm and other stupid crap and that's why he was kicked off the team or transferred out. He knew he wasn't cut out for the work Saban demands of his players.

He sounds very slow and lazy.

I've def. heard the story about setting off fireworks inside a dorm.

Sentimore had it spelled out—and I mean that literally as in written on a sheet of paper that he had to sign—what he had to do to maintain his position on the team during spring practice (specifically in the third week of March) last year.

He was told under no uncertain terms if you don't do what this says, you will be dismissed from the team.

He kept out of trouble for about three months and was gone by mid June.

All of the players were in that meeting. They knew he received one of the contracts—he was one of nine that received them that day—but they didn't know what it spelled out.

All I know for certain is part of it had to do with him skipping class.

Now, I mentioned wondering what the players are thinking because due to the amount of play this story is getting they are certain to remember.

What would you think if you were lined up against him Saturday?

So he didn't have the work ethic to play at Alabama, so he goes to a place like Tennessee and can half-ass and still have a starting job..He'll have a fun time on the ground and watching Eddie and Yeldon run past him.

i would have to imagine our guys are going to show him just how it's done when you put forth your best effort. I haven't followed much of UT for an entire game of theirs so I don't know how well he has played this season.

A plus from this is that it will make for good locker room material. You think Saban had a smirk or two when he saw he wanted to make this personal, even though his issues were his own faults and none with Saban when you get down to it? If I were CNS I would email him lsufreeks latest GIF :)

Did he receive a ring? If so we should collect that post game after we put a beating on them.

Meh, he's the fool with the big mouth who gave the reporters exactly what they wanted...sound bites and crap to poke the hot coals with.

I haven't watched the interview, I'd imagine he got a little caught up in the interview and just vomited that out - I have to wonder, does he regret what he said.

He's playing the victim card and I for one don't like people who play that. Man up and handle your business, you just got played by a reporter.

Regret the action or regret the exposure?

What I wonder is where was the SID employee? Purinton, or one of the staff members, would have ended that interview as soon as that line of questioning started.

I would say the action more than the exposure. I see interviewing as two things 1) releasing information you are purposely trying to drop - I don't see many 20 year olds being this mental 2) getting caught saying something you probably should have kept to yourself.

I've watched the interview, it definitely got cut when it went down this path - ".....any regrets?"

Hell, Darrington couldn't even articulate his answer to the question to be honest, he said he regretted it but couldn't give a solid reason why, after he answered it with whatever he said, someone in the background said "1 more guys" and the interview was over after the last question.

To me, it sounds like Sentimore STILL needs to mature some more!! His immaturity got his azz in trouble here. CNS gave him opportunities, contract to sign with the ultimatum of GET RIGHT AND GROW UP OR GET GONE!! We know which choice Sentimore made and he has to live with it. It seems to be chapping his rear that things aren't all rosy in Vile land!
